Mystery transmission part
« on: March 26, 2016, 10:45:02 PM »
I acquired an assload of parts today along with a new project. I was told this will change the overall gearing of the bike without doing tranny mods.

Looks like the gear in trans behind the big spring that slips w/too much torque happens.

What Steve said. #8 here:

From a 5 spd. with straight cut gears. I'm counting 16 teeth which is one fewer than the Daytona era 'boxes. Maybe an earlier Le Mans 850 'box? Just guessing.

You'd need the matching intermediate shaft (#14) in order to use it.

It came with the '87 lemans se racebike I just bought ( in pieces ). I did get the original tranny, and that was in it for a while, but removed when the bike was retired. I guess the 16 teeth are supposed to make it special and lower the gearing?
