Same year as mine, which I've owned from new and now 107,000 on the clock. Mine's a red '07 but no dramas with the oil pump, which I'm told is something you really should investigate. What would you like to know ? Looking at it is necessary, but won't tell you much after the first 10 minutes. Your buddy should write the cheque, leave it un signed with the owner and take the bike for a weekend away. Then when he gets back and buys it, he can give it a Beetle map and learn how to service it himself,( talk to Roper). Simple as hell and none of the rollerising (sometimes) required of the 8V's. Mine will do 430 km @100 kph before the light comes on and would JUST get to 500 if you had to and ran it to empty. I fixed up the connectors to the neutral and oil sender switches and did start us interruptus as well as some other stuff. Tell him to just buy it if it feels nice and put the best oil in it , then TRY to wear it out. If I'm remembering correctly there was a post recently with a fabulous amount of info on the intricacies ??? Of Norge ownership and the things you should do, could have been IT Sec but that maybe wrong.

What's the story with the oil pump? Do the lower fairings crack on these ? Electronics sketchy?

I think $4,950 might be a little steep.

Unless your friend is in love with the modifications to the bodywork, there's no value there - and maybe some lost. I like my machine's adjustable windscreen and bodywork, and I've never been distracted by the stock instruments.

There are several threads here that describe things to watch for on 2v Norge models, but here are the highlights.

Some early production 2007 model year bikes had a bad oil pump (the lobes of the impeller would fail). These were reportedly between December '06 and February '07 for the most part, and some believe these bikes were largely red (a certain production run). The rear spring on the '07s was weaker than later years, OK for one-up but not two. The '07 did not have a pull-out dipstick from the factory, but most of them have had one added since. There's a kit available for a reasonable price if needed. As always, even of the tread appears good, check the date stamp on the tires. Here in the desert, tires degrade just because of heat, UV and ozone.

A lien on a nearly ten year old bike, and a relatively high asking price, would make me think the owner may not have a good grasp of the market for such bikes. Even with low miles, sport touring bikes in general and the Norge in particular are not valued as highly by the market as by their owners (who mostly know their true worth, both in dollars - low - and in smiles - high).

I'd say this bike was totaled by an insurance co. in some kind of wreck.  It doesn't  take much for this to happen.  If this happened in Calif. this bike would now have a salvage title.  Since it's in Az., I don't know what it does in cases like that.   Why would anyone other wise make all these changes to a bike?   If the frame is bent (follow it behind and see if you can see that) I wouldn't buy it. OTOH, for a lot less $ I might if it seems OK after riding it.  :undecided:

It made me consider how I could have 2 bikes (not happening) or whether I'd try to swap my Duc for it.  Pretty close to a Sport 1200 with ABS (which wasn't available in the US).  Fantastic - read the v11lemans link for a good thread on it.

If you're looking for a price comparison my low mileage '09 is listed in the swap meet section. 14,000 miles
$4,500
