Title: Location/road question
Post by: WP2 on February 10, 2017, 01:16:06 PM
Three years ago a group of us Michiganders trailered to Parumph, NV to ride Death Valley, Yosemite National Park and the Napa Valley area. Great times and great riding.
On our return trip, we overnighted in Lake Tahoe. While in the Lake Tahoe area (close) we were fortunate enough to happen on a road that rode a ridge with no shoulders, no guard rails, and serious drop-off on both sides. It had some elevation and I remember that we were overlooking Lake Tahoe and not far from the town. If I remember correctly, it was a destination drive in the area
Over beers last night, none of us could remember the road either by number or name.

Can anybody help my ageing memory?

Thanks.

Walt

NV-431?

Don't think that's it. We were coming in from the west/nw and were headed to stay in South Tahoe.

Thanks tho

My guess is the stretch just south of Emerald Bay on Hwy 89 .
You're on the ridge between Emerald Bay to the north , and Cascade Lake to the south , with the main body of Tahoe to the east .
Hwy 89 is a  truly spectacular road from end to end , but along Lake Tahoe it is miserable with tourists all summer long .

Thanks guys!

I believe you've nailed it with Hwy 89.
