R/R Engine Temp Sensor holder on a Ballabio

Temp sensor has come clean out of the holder on the Billy Bob.  I have a new brass holder to install, but how to get the old one out.  I searched V-11 Lemans and here and found nothing useful, probably a search failure on my part.   Billy Bob is udders up until I get it replaced.  Since I will be having some free time for a while here, I may as well get on it, upon my return from Mo-Kan.

Doesn't seem to have any place to put a wrench on it. All I have is a piece of copper sticking out.

There actually is a hex nut down in there, but it sits down in the aluminum head a good bit.

There is some trick, like grinding the end of a 17mm deep socket flush, that will grab it and screw it out. I forget exactly how it was.

Like Wayne sez, either grind down a socket or drive a big hunker eze out in there and screw it out.

don't know if I was just lucky but what I did was to take a flat file and break of the end of the tong so the remaining part of the tong was wide enough to bite into remaining brass acting as an easy out. With a good strike of the hammer it bit right into the brass and with an adjustable wrench on the file it backed right out

I'm trying to get a better pic of further down inside.  But as a lousy wrench as I am, I'm an even worser photographer.

If you want to ride in the meantime slather the old sensor in silicone and jamb it back in,

Yes, that should unscrew.

A hammer and a cold chisel or a punch should make short work of it. Once it starts turning it should be free to turn with your fingers.

My big problem with the plastic holder was that it never stayed tight.  The other problem was that the location made it difficult to get a wrench on.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was already finger tight.

I've had a couple of them just crumble into dust when I tried to pull off the connector. Modern miracle space age plastic.. 
At least the bottom is brass.
