We're Retired - 2nd trip report
« on: June 27, 2021, 07:22:21 AM »
So, about ten days ago, we headed south for a bit of Arkansas exploring.

As usual, the Missus is navigating from the back seat.  It's simply amazing that she finds all of these easy, relaxing motorcycle roads.

Then we took a ride to Mount Judea, and the roads were just as nice.

We popped out in the big, booming Metropolis of Sand Gap, and the Hankins General Store - and continued to the one lane bridge at Big Piney Creek.

....moving right along and still heading south, the next couple of hours were worth the end result.  This is the old country store in Oark, Arkansas.  It is home of the most delicious pies on the planet (they only claim four counties).

The next day, we headed south of Interstate 40.  A little trip to the top of Mount Nebo.
This is also one of those nice, easy roads.

It was a hot day, but about ten degrees cooler at the top, and a nice breeze.

and then we went back home.

I must've just missed you.  I rode up Tuesday, did 123 and Push Mtn Weds, went to Oark on Thurs (lost a rider on the way, went back and didnt eat), then rode home Friday to beat the rain and heat and a little frustrated with the other riders.  BTW- Clarksville is dry.  Don't stay there.

How the heck do you fit luggage for two on the bike?  Or are you trailering and based out of a hotel?

We based in Harrison, Arkansas and rode day trips out of there.  Harrison is only 250 miles from here and so we just ride it.
Ya don't need much stuff for three days, except that my Wife makes me bring clean underwear and socks and stuff.

 :boozing:

We trailer on the long hauls, and then base out of a hotel somewhere.  I have expended considerable effort trying to convince my Wife that we would be happy with a nice tent - but it appears that HER idea of camping is Motel 6.
