Title: NGC what happened to Barret Jackson?
Post by: Canuck750 on June 17, 2021, 08:49:45 PM
I lost interest in the Barret Jackson auctions years ago, all the glitz and hype but was just flipping channels this evening and see they are in Las Vegas this week. There can’t be 50 people in the seats in front of the stage.

What’s become of the collector car and auction scene?

Have all the multi millionaires and billionaires gotten bored with their $100,000+ Muscle cars?

When was the show you watched recorded? If in most of 2020, - rules may have dictated the onsite crowd size. Plus, you don’t have to be present to bid etc.

It’s live from Las Vegas, it’s the first night of a three night sale so usually the opening night is a little bit slow with the cheaper cars passing the block but still! Hardly a person in the seats, not exaggerating there can’t be 50 people in the seats.

Scottsdale is the big event / clown show. I stated going in the early '90s. I quit going when it became a big party.  Weekdays are the lower end vehicles. The stupidity starts friday.

From a seller’s standpoint BaT is much better. I don’t have to ship a bike to Vegas and worry about it and possibly bring it back. Plus you can’t beat a $99 flat rate sellers commission. If were buying I would still want to see the vehicle, but it seems I’m in the minority. I have friends in town from Vegas and they say that the economy there is hopping and red hot.

The auctions are doing well, online bidding was strong.  I look forward to walking the aisles of cars you normally see only in magazines.

I'm set to attend the full schedule of auctions next year when they return to Scottsdale after a chopped up schedule earlier this year.....  https://photos.app.goo.gl/MjTHGaNqHFcVtTXcA
