the force on the pivot point is about half with a radial as the forces are essentially in the same plane, probably the reduced friction improves feel

General Discussion / Re: To Grill or Griddle?

I'll keep grilling and smoking on the Big Green Egg and use my soon to be outlawed gas stove and cast iron skillet in the house. If you're cooking breakfast for a group the griddle might make sense.

Even if you are only cooking for one or two making stuff like dippy eggs on the griddle is a smidge easier. It doesn't cook any better or different than a nice CI skillet (love my cast iron cookware) but you have lots of room around the eggs for getting the long blade spatula under it and in a quick sweeping motion to not break the yolk and there is plenty of fresh hot griddle space to land the egg after flipping. Same for pancakes. in the 10" Griswold even if only cooking two pancakes they have to be relatively small so when you flip them you don't land one on the other.

FWIW the BGE also works good for skillet cooking. Nice even heat under the whole skillet.

The biggest benefit for me is cooking outside keeps the smells and mess of cooking outside. As much as I love bacon or a good bacala and red sauce I don't want to enjoy the house smelling like it for days.

Hope it is not to late to tell you about the Chesapeak BayBridge Tunnel that is called one of the ten wonders in the US. IMHO well worth the toll. Check it out.

The Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan is well worth the toll.

Want anymore points of interest as the KERA is not helping you out?

Seems I read about 20 years ago you could just sub a resistor (value??) to ground for the "run" (warm??) value on a switch and use it like a "choke". Off for start and on for run!!

Yes, the temp sensor is in a poor location. The valve cover will never ever get up to temperature in the winter. So, the ECU was always on 'choke' so to speak, pouring in too much fuel, in the winter.
Some people paralleled a switched in resistor, to fool the thermistor into think the motor was hot.

I have to wonder if mounting the thermistor under a valve cover bolt wouldn't help a lot.
About like this:

Hey Bob,         I just looked up the Georgia Sidecar Club rally, same weekend, at Wispering Pines Campground, Morgantown GA

So, if you are going to TWO, go north a bit more & see the rigs. They are usually in & out of TWO that weekend & all over N.GA

Thanks for the math. My point all he needs s gasket set and bolt the prick together and have one of the nichest runing guzzi engines
.

I'm betting the Eldo crank and 1100 crank are balanced quite differently, so it would be a good idea to have everything rebalanced. Not as simple as "bolt the ____ together"...

Thanks guys!!

I have a spare 1100 crankcase and a spare 750 loop engine with flaky bores, could be an option to use the old crank in the new engine.

I'm also the owner of mike tiberio's eldovert so will have a close look at his brackets when I'm back in the country.

This is all just speculation at the moment!!!

Will report back if it ever gets off the ground

The 750 crank is even shorter stroke - 70 mm, so one would need to remove 5 mm from the bottom of the cylinder (not sure if that's feasible) or have custom connecting rods made. Displacement would end up 931 cc. Might as well use a 949 cc engine in the first place at that point, and save all of the hassle.
