So, out of curiosity, any chance we might get you to measure the rear swing arm from the center point of the pivot to the center point of the axle bolt? I have heard the swing arm is longer than the previous V7 models, but I have not substantiated that. No hurry BTW.John Henry
I'm trying to pay fairly close attention to the break in shift light, so I'm not sure how much I can tell you at this point. I'd been riding Doug's Roamer since he bought the V85TT and was absolutely swept away by the V9 engine. But the Roamer felt much more spread out as far as the riding position, and I couldn't get near as comfortable riding and handling it as I was on my V7 II. Doug said it stood to reason I ought to go try the new 850 so away we went to the nearest dealer, Sloan's. Rolling away on the test ride I nearly felt disappointed, the 850 lacks a good bit of that mechanical, rumbling, thumping feel that I enjoy so much on the V9. It's there, it's just not a prominent feature the way it is on the Roamer. The V7 850 fits like a glove though, and handles without a thought, completely natural. I went home and studied for two days just to make sure. I've got 200 miles on it now, like it more with each ride.Sarahp.s. I'll get that measurement for you, John Henry. The V7III is 17-1/2 inchesI wonder if they used the rear end from the V9, it certainly looks beefier than the V7
Can we get rid of this thread? I just got back and started riding my old v7 Classic a little over a week ago, and now I have to read this thread about how great the new 850 is.
I don't think many of us will feel sorry for you, I know I would love an old V7, I don't think you could persuade me to swap my old Eldorado for one 40 years younger.
I have a 2019 V7lll Special. I just went and remeasured mine. It is 18 1/32 inches. kk

Did you measure this? 2 of us say 18". 17.5" to the bottom of the shock maybe.
For those interested, I was poking around to see what accessories are available for the MK4. (V7 850) Although Moto Machines, the US importer, does not have a listing for Hepco Becker the H-B site does. With regard to the H-B brackets that allow the use of the Junior bags, they list a part number of 653556 00 01. That is a different number than the V7III part number. They also list the other pieces such as a rear rack, engine guards, center stand. I did not compare any of those numbers against older V7 models. No doubt as Moto Machines updates their site, MK4 accessories will show up soon.I figure there might be people wanting to be able to set up a new V7 MK4 as a dedicated tourer and a set of 40L Juniors, (or 30's), would go a long way toward that goal, not to mention setting a trunk on the back. Knowing the stuff is out there might help someone on the fence about getting a new V7 because of this.John Henry
