Once witnessed a magnesium fueled fire in the engine of an OV-10 Bronco airplane. The fire department buried the wing in wet-chem foam while the crew chiefs were frantically moving neighboring birds to other parts of the flightline. Hell of a fire...

IIRC, the cargo compartment isn't very big. How many guys with chutes would you fit in there?
When I worked on them in the early 70's, we were training Iranian and Venezuelan pilots. The US had sold a bunch of them to those countries. Used for forward air control and spotting targets for the Phantoms, never knew guys jumped out of them.
