Has anybody gone tubeless on the front of a Callifornia II? I did it on a couple of bikes, the rear of my GS850 Suzuki and one end (can't remember which) of my son's 1984 V65. I need a front tire and the conversion is easy if the rim doesn't mind. Wondered if it's been tried successfully.

I went that way on my Cali II about 6 months ago. I had to file a flat on the inside of the rim where the valve fits and drill it out a little larger for the valve.
So far I have never had to add air.
BTW they were done at a shop so I never had time to clean the place where the bead sits properly but it sealed perfectly.
My spoked Eldorado was another story, had a few leaks in the front but it seems good now touch wood.

That's what I needed to hear. I did this in the spring on the back wheel of the V65, no problems, and on the back of my Suzuki. I had to drill the valve stem holes out to match the stems, which are found at any of the big box auto parts stores. I don't want to mess with the tube unless I have to, I tend to find holes when I'm done :angry:

Search this part number for a stem to use without drilling.

There is also a NAPA equivalent but I don't have the number handy.

Another option is a Tank Valve, these are a Schrader fitting with 1/4" NPT male thread.
You would need to tap the wheel and I have only seen them in brass.
