I’m looking for a new old Guzzi. I was looking at some old pictures on my computer and stumbled on two bikes I let get away. Feeling bad about these two. Which one do you miss the most.

The only one I ever really had sellers remorse was for my 1981 V50-III. I did have a chance to buy it back. I had the space and the funds but not the desire. So I guess I didn’t miss it all that much.

Miss this one. My time with it was too short. But, I would have had to spend $2k on it that I didn't have at the time, so it's better that I sold it.

WOW!! Both of those are lovely...but the bottom-line...if you have the $$ CASH $$ in hand...there is ALWAYS a cool vintage Guzzi out there to acquire and love. :wink: :thumb: :cool:

I've always had a soft spot for the K75S. This one was a few hundred miles away, butI just could not coordinate getting to it.

Both ends of the spectrum?
I had a Metralla, too, as new. 63-4? Black & silver. Cripes what I wouldn't give to have it back. Also an RG500 Suzuki. From the beginning I've always had a few 2trokes to keep me company, but that motorcycle was down right mean. The difference betwixt a Daytona & and an RG500? The former makes big grins all the time; even with the engine shut off. The RG will stain your shorts and you can't believe you lived through the experience. R3~

I have let several go that I should not have. Most Guzzi, other include Triumphs.
One in particular was a '75 T-160 Triumph Trident that I sold twenty five years ago and instantly regretted doing so...
Two years ago I found another. This one shall stay. ;)

Thats a tough one... my last two bikes I sold about 10 years ago, when life at the time got to busy to ride... One was a GREAT bike.. just a basic suzuki GS650L.. but it just did everything, and needed nothing...ever! I did mods to make it fit me and my riding better, [lower bars, forks slid up the clamps, longer shocks..] and it was just a great bike.. I knew when I got back on the road, I wanted a bigger bike, so I sold it to make a hole in the garage that I could fill later.. But really it was a great bike... Next was a 77 RD400.. While I daily rode it for a few years, I knew it really couldn't be a only bike for me. Sold it 10 years ago for 800 bucks, and now they are going for almost two in any shape at all. I had big plans for it, but timing was bad, and house and kids came first... Kinda wish I just stashed it away and sat on it.... but i really didn't have space. Thank being said, 10+ years later I got a Guzzi sitting in the garage that I wouldn't have if I kept either....

Let this one go, but not by choice...Brand New Leftover 09 XR bought in 2012 but T-Boned by unlicensed driver in 2013. Replaced it with a Brand New Griso! I thought it was a Great Bike, but I Really Love the Griso. Would have never bought my first Guzzi if that hadn't happened.

Wow, those are both beautiful, I can understand why you miss them.
I missed out on a nice Le Mans III last year, only to have an opportunity to buy my Mk1 Le Mans a few months later, so, I'm happy.

Thanks JAS. The Ambo was found in a basement in Northern Michigan. I put it together and had a good time riding it. The LM III was purchased in New Mexico. I rode the bike to Colorado Springs the day I bought it. Two days later I jumped on the bike and 26 hours later pulled into my garage in Michigan. 1200 miles in 26 hours. Yep, should have kept that one.

My little sister and I got matching ones for Christmas one year, and we rode the wheels off of them all around the woods and gravel roads around my family's summer cabin...we even schemed plans to do a road trip on them...ah, youth! :laugh:

67 Norton P-11. Most favorite bike I ever rode. 4 speed tranny, one up and three down, right side shift. I just didn't know enough at the time to keep it running right. Traded it in to buy my first Guzzi, an 850-T

There were lots of cool bikes that I've had and could have justified keeping, but this one was uniquely special- a 1970 Ducati 450 Mark 3D Desmo that I got for dirt cheap almost by accident. I traded a free R27 (that I had owned for less than 48 hrs) plus $200 for this bike and a engineless but otherwise complete & gorgeous Ducati 450 Jupiter. A few weeks after getting it, the original owners manual arrived. It was special ordered new in late 1969 by Arthur C. Boughton Jr (spelled Buton by his French grandfather, who changed the spelling to be more "American" after arriving in the USA..) My name is Arthur C. Button II. It was my namesake bike. Really liked riding it. Very cool.
Pics with original seat pan with hump I added & 250/350 tank plus pic with better condition correct original 450 tank. Sold it with my good Jupiter (different bike than the one that came with the Desmo, also a great one- pic below) in 07 to Hans in CA. These were the last two of my keepers that I sold to benefit my studio.

Hans sent me pics about a year later of it with Frank Scurria, 1960's Ducati privateer legend, who was riding my namesake Desmo in the CA 2008 Moto Giro. It hadn't been restored, just tuned and such and it was being ridden largely as I sold it. He said all the legends of consequence in the Ducati world had laid hands upon my bike during the event. Again, very cool...

Frank did survive but it was a serious event and a long medical recovery. Hans said he was building a new frame for the remains of my bike to put it back into action. I sometimes miss my Desmo, but it never would have been the part of a story like this one if it hadn't left me. Scars are always better than tattoos. Very cool...

In a weak moment and with spousal incentives conspiring... I let my old K bike go some years back. Kinda looking to track it down again. The people who bought it were in the Chanhassen/western Twin Cities area in Minnesota. This old snap shows it with the upper portion of its Krauser system installed. It had 2 other modules that could enclose the entire engine when installed. Krieghauf (sp?) ceramic exhaust. Corbin and Tele-Fix. Rode very nicely and was pretty quick, too.

I have a number that I still pine for, but the one I miss the most is my '74 Notion Commando Interstate. I was a SP4 back then and maintenance was really all I could afford. I absolutely loved that motorcycle and only sold it because my best friend wanted it and I'd just become a dad. I still dream about all the things I wanted to do with that bike...

This is one I miss but mostly for the memories. Pictured with me if Eraldo Ferracci. Pic was taken outside his shop and it was the year before things really took off for him. I met Dale Quarterly that day and they were prepping a tri-color 851 for an up-coming race.
The F1 was a real hooligan and was a blast to ride back then, probably not so much now (30 years later). It was probably wise to let it go. One day I was gassing up and a cruiser pulled up beside me, rolled down the window and pointed a finger and said "we will get you". Seems they had had several complaints of a loud red white and green bike tearing up the back roads. But isn't that what your supposed to do?

Here's the one I should have kept. 98 Centauro, Creedon C5 chip, Pichler Uni-4 fairing, Rich Maund seat. Sucker was fast. I sold it to Tinman because it was bringing out a side in me that probably would have kept me from making it to 40 years old.

I sold this 2003 K1200gt about a 6 months ago and have regretted it ever since. Fast, smooth, and a real mile-eater. Elec. cruise control and elec. windscreen made for comfortable miles. I'm already looking at other ones. Low mileage ones are getting hard to find.
