It is a very nice looking bike. I realize nothing is certain in the used bike world if you didn't do the work yourself, but all of the work being described using words such as "apparently", "probably" "supposed to be" etc was not overly confidence inspiring, but that is just my opinion.
,
I couldn't make out the name on the exhaust, but I love that style on those bikes.

After watching a few Eldos being sold recently, here and on Kijiji, it will be interesting to see how high BAT pushes the price.

As well as the exhaust (name?)...I like the look of those chrome fenders also!

Mufflers are Lafranconi Frankfurters, commonly referred to as "slashbacks".

This bike is fitted with PHF carbs not VHBs.  I noticed that there are  plugs on the headers I thought maybe the headers were ones that once had a crossover pipe at one point like ton the lemans but they seem to high, the seller mentioned that the nubs on the headers were used to balance the carbs.  I am not familiar with this set up, can someone enlighten me?

Well, the seller of that bike has only ridden it 300 miles. That might explain things!

And what is with the cylinder head guards? Are they installed 90 degrees off?

Those are boot guards, not head guards. They came on the police bikes... those bikes had crashbars to protect the heads, these keep your knees off the valve covers.

I guessing the "nubs" are where a sensor threads in for an exhaust gas analyzer probe. Helpful when getting the jetting correct. There are vacuum ports on the manifolds (under the boot guards unfortunately) for balancing the carbs.

BaT, (Bring-a-Trailer), appears to have done more in the last 2 years to RAISE the prices of vintage motorcycles, (...and classic cars), across the board.  Obviously THE PLACE to SELL...but I am not sure about BUYING!!!

From my experience, BaT is a site where mostly knowledgeable and collectors are the market, no matter what the marque or type of vehicle.  BaT is NOT Craigs list or the local newspaper.  When you put something on BaT the audience is both knowledgeable on the item and it is international is reach.  Posting on BaT will bring out the serious buyers since the bidders have to put up an account with $$ in it to bid.

Well I have a 1974 Civilian disc brake Eldo with Amal carbs, 5000 original miles, original everything but the cylinders, I have gone right thru it to replace age related components, maybe it is a good time to see what a rare loop will bring.....  DonG

Just from the brief description, I'd say post it.  I would be curious for the process of putting a bike on BaT.
