I searched with not much luck. Sorry if this has been addressed... I'm a big guy and neither the stock or the high comfort seat do much for me. Cool cover and front of seat rise have done pretty good. I am at the point where I want a rebuild or new seat. Little different shape, no front slide. Reached out to Corbin with no response and a couple of smaller operations with no luck. The Kontour guy got back to me pretty quick but $$$$ ouch! Russel day long look comfortable and exceptionally fugly. I know Sargent seems to do decent.
So anyone have another option? Any pics of what you may have would be great if you've got them.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a pic of the bike. Because. You know...

I too don't find the V85 seat comfortable and much prefer the one on my V Strom. I did once sit on a Vstrom with a Sargent seat and it was the most comfortable seat ever. I would contact them and see when they will have a seat. I would probably trade my Strom for a V85 if I found it comfortable.

OEM seats are built to such a low standard I can't imagine that they would be a qualifier, or not, for purchase.
Sargent does a good job on seats shaped like the 85. It would be a good place to start.

I’ve had quite a few different seats on bikes, I tried the Sargent seat and never looked back, by far the most comfortable seat I ever had. I can ride all day with no discomfort.
-
Thanks Guys! Guess I'll be making a call to Sargent tomorrow.

Post what you learn from Sargeant. Others (me) have the same problem.

You got it.
Called Sargent. Looks like they are running around a 1 month turnaround. I plan to ship off the seat next week sometime. Full report once I get it back.

The seat comes close for me, but not perfect. I removed the butt stop and that allows a little sliding room. It's pretty good with a sheepskin but that throws off the angle to the bars for me and makes it sit even higher which is not the best situation for me. So a very well shaped standard or lower height seat could make a lot of difference. I have ridden mine over 18,000 and that is really the only complaint I have and it is a minor one.

I tested a V85 a month ago or so, and I REALLY wanted to love it......and I did LIKE it....it is a good bike and super cool like Moto Guzzis in general. But it was realistically twice the price of my Strom and the Strom is paid for and set up perfectly for me and it is an excellent lightweight tourer. The prospect of paying $13 or $14k for a bike and still having to shell out another $600 for a good seat is just too much for me to justify. If the seat were good.........well that would be a problem!

I have the MG tall seat and I took off the bump pad too then added a sit n fly cover. Works perfect for me. YMMV even the stock seat was OK for me as long as the bump pad is removed. Removing it gives more room, makes for a slightly curved bucket in the rear and makes it easy to slide up on passenger area to stretch.

Mine isn't terrible but I know it can be better. Guess we will see!

I looked very closely at the VStrom 1000. great bike but, for me, just sitting on it was uncomfortable. I've given up on any stock motorcycle being comfortable for me. Granted, I need to lose several pounds. But that is a different story.

I rode without the bump for awhile. I think it was a little better but not a game changer. The tall seat was good but I still felt it in the same spot after the same amount of time.
Think it's the combination of the seat roundover and a large ass that make for a small contact area.

Got my seat back last month. Haven't had a chance to ride it. Definitely feels different and my cool cover still fits. Dealing with Sargent was a very pleasant experience. Asked several questions, no surprises and hit the middle of the quoted time frame. Hoping to get out over the next few weeks. Maybe stop by Cadre for the V7 raffle and check out my new bike I'm winning if the weather cooperates.

thank you for posting that picture. it looks just a little wider where you would want it to be wider. i guess this was a custom build for them, can you say how much it cost?
BTW, you are too late for the Cadre raffle if you did not buy a ticket. I remember the first time it took about 6 months to sell all the tickets. this time 8 days.

It was $360 which included return shipping.
I got my ticket. Talking about heading up for the drawing on the 26th. Definitely went super quick this time. Looking forward to my new V7!

Maybe we will meet up at the drawing.

That seat looks good and the price was right. And the Sit&Fly (or copy) covers are amazing........a gamechanger for me on my V Strom(that and the footpeg lowering kit). Hope it works out for you.

Is the Sargent seat lower than the stock seat?

Thanks Scott. The cool cover totally changed my riding experience. Can't imagine riding without it.

Hope so too. Up to the weather at this point. If not, we cann arrange something else for you to check out the seat.

Didn't measure, but seems to be about the same.

So you've had the Sargent for a few months now... What's the verdict?

I trimmed up a sheepskin pelt that has been in a closet for probably 15 years. Will probably do some more trimming as I get used to it.
Was in the saddle 10 hours today with a few breaks.

Sorta the same here... I have a Wee strom & Corbin. Test rode a v85tt and right out of the box I hated the seat, period. With the Wee, I'd like to get away from oiling the chain every 500 on cross country trips (yeah, I know about automatic chain oilers and aint doing that.) and no cruise control for my arthritic wrists. I can live with the price of the v85 but then there is the seat and maybe bar risers because the new seat may require a hbar re-position (are the cables & wiring long enough to support bar risers?) and then another gps. Plus, I thought the Wee has better ride quality than the v85tt so does that mean I'd have to do suspension work on a new v85 too? The lightest suspension setting on the the v85tt was on the harsh side, imo. Oh well.

Sorry to leave you hangin! I moved onto a different bike from the V85.
The Sargent seat was great. Made the bike totally comfortable and the seat cover made it that much better. Sargent will get any custom seat business from me moving forward.
