Just did this.  Used Simichrome and a small polishing wheel in a drill.  Worked great and easy.

Yep. They will just turn blue again. I kind of like how it looks, like it is actually ridden.

Semichrome, eh? I have one pipe on the G5 that came to me that way. Apparently someone adjusted that carb a little too rich at some time it it's life. I'll see if I can make it look like the other one. Thanks.. :thumb:

Negative regards to suppose to be blue, not with a pipe inside a chrome pipe. Someone left it  idling with the choke on:(

I have had good luck with a product called "Wenol Metal Polish" comes in a tube like toothpaste. I can get my stainless pipes to look like chrome with that stuff. Of course the discoloration returns, but sometimes not as bad.
Wenol is what I use for the aluminum on my eldo also. It leaves a protective coating so the aluminum does not re oxidise so fast. Its good stuff, German made.

I thought about that but I want to keep it factory as it is a very unique bike and mint condition except the blue header pipes. I hope to find a couple good ones to replace the blue two but that’s going to be difficult as it’s a 38 years old bike that was only produced one year, 1983.

I used to do all that stuff (semi chrome and all the others) way back when.  The discolor would always return.  Hope it works out better for you than it did for me.

cb1100f?
1983 CB1000 custom, duel high low 10 speed transmission. From 80-82 they were 900s but in 83 they were bumped up to 1000cc. As a motor officer we used the 900s for several years dressed with Vetter fairing and bags and trunk. They were indestructible bikes and with the high low tranny did a great job in the city.
