Rocker 59, What's BUMP mean?
I've been looking at possible routing, and have a few questions. The map seems to suggest things like 209, Taconic parkway, and 22 but talking to a friend who did it a few years back, he says 22 is very rough, with 2" high expansion joints. Anyone possibly local with a more recent evaluation? While we're here, anyone have any kind of route suggestions? (Meeting riding friend in Shrewsbury @ the Cracker Barrel for breakfast, so that would be a good starting point.)Thanks,Howard
Make sure you find me. I'll be the guy on a Guzzi wearing a Guzzi T-Shirt with a beer in my hand.
Bus. US 6, US 6 E, 171, 370, 17 NY, 268, 10 (n of apex), 23 at Stamford, to Catskill [pick up Joe Ss route], 22 at Hillsdale, 43 at Stephentown, 2 at Williamstown, 10 to Swanzey (with a slight nod to I-91 vic. Greenfield that Ill avoid when there).Makes your head hurt, huh? If you or anyone has comments about how any of this unwise, please let me know.
I see you decided to take the 43 cutoff instead of staying on 22 North. I am too, we'll see how it is.The Millersburg Ferry only runs if the Susquehanna River is high enough to float it. Often it's not, so have an alternate route north or south to a bridge planned .....I'm on a lot of that route, but not going through Carbondale and I'll wing it for a place to stop, if I don't ride all the way through on Wednesday. That would be 750 miles; I can do that if I have to, but I don't have any "Have To" as part of this little holiday trip; there will be more rose-smelling than freeway-grinding next week!!Lannis
