I'm no longer calling my California Stone a Stone...
« on: February 06, 2013, 06:37:55 PM »
Every time I see "Stone", I'm thinking, Hey, another guy bought a California like mine!
But no... It's always the cutesy little V7.  **C    Death to the V7s ! :food

From now on I'll refer to my California as the Fuel Injected California  California 1100 ;D

"fuel injected California"..  Hmmm  Just like every EV, Bassa, Jackal, Special Sport, Aluminum, Titanium, Vintage...

Yeah.  That'll set you apart!

How 'bout:  "California Stone"?  Or, "Cal Stone"?   (since that's what it is)   ;)

I call 01 stone anniversary issue a Jackal. I think it was made
in the factory during the name change.
It is in the shop now have a check up. I got in yesterday
I thought it would be ready today. Hopefully tomorrow.
The valves/rocker arms need to be adjusted. I wonder
how long it takes to do that?

OK.  You realize that the California 1100 is the model that preceded the 1998 EV, right?

Yeah...

At the moment people refer to the new California as the 1400. They get the picture of what you re talking about.

It's not like i claimed i had a LeMans!

i just call mine the "Original Stone"

Such a great name they wanted to use it again to remind people of the glory days of Guzzi Big Twins starting in 2001.

I had no idea that "Glory Days" was a synonym for "twilight".

I'm pretty amazed that Guzzi brought the Stone name back. Pretty dumb name for any motorcycle if you ask me. I think they must have had a contest to see if they could find something worse than Jackal and Stone was the winner.

Someone needs to have a sexy picture of Sharon (Stone) airbrushed on top of their tank.

That would be the ticket.   ;-T

She lives (or used to) in my 'hood, supposedly.  It's a funny neighborhood, with all economic strata kind of jammed in together.  SS was married to the owner of the SF Chronicle and lived with him out here in the extreme northwestern part of San Francisco.  I saw her once riding a horse on the nearby coastal trail.  Sometimes you see a movie star in real life and they just seem like ordinary peeps.  Not so Ms. Stone, she's larger than life.

Robin Williams also used to live near me, before he divorced and left the house to his wife.  He was more of a regular guy, drove an old jeep and used to eat at the local pizza place.

But we so pleasantly digress.  Not sure what's wrong with "stone" as a name for a bare bones naked motorcycle.  Works better for me than ZXS789, or whatever.

Somehow I thought the various versions of Cali III were just different paint schemes.  Was there a substantial difference between models?
