I forgot I turned mine off to be able to post a review. Your post reminded me to turn it back on. I changed fluid on gearbox (and trans). Now I catch neutral 9 of 10 times on first try. On my V7II, the gearbox fluid was reduced from 500 cc to 450 cc to keep it from blowing out 500 cc is fine on the V7-850. No issues on yesterday's 382 mile run to Taos via mountain roads and back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 54

General Discussion / Re: Handy v7 maintenance tips« Last post by SportsterDoc on September 20, 2023, 12:54:34 PM »Maintenance is straightforward, but compared to a V7II, an open end 24mm wrench is needed for gearbox drain plug...or a VERY thin box wrench.

General Discussion / Handy v7 maintenance tips« Last post by Beowulf on September 20, 2023, 12:46:13 PM »So I was installing tires for my v7 850. Got a flat and opted to just change both tires as the puncture was significant.
Went with Bridgestone BT 46. Used the zip tie trick to mount the tires and for me it helps. Thinking of changing brake fluid soon. Anyone know what size for speed bleeders? Also occurred to me anyone have anything they particularly find handy in the maintenance of v7 850? Looking to learn tips and tricks. Maybe irrelevant but curious. 57

The bearing block has 2 holes for gear oil to flow through. One was blocked with a burr from the milling of the flats on opposite sides. The new bearing from NAPA were from two mfg. SKF AND FAG. Same physical dimensions on i.d, o.d. and width. Taper was different. Shimmed up good. 60
