Quick question about installing rear foot peg
« on: October 13, 2021, 08:16:52 AM »
How exactly ought I fasten the stop ring into the groove at the bottom of the pin that runs through the open cylinder in the foot peg?

Can I force it around the pin and simply snap it into the groove, or does it need to be pried open (i.e. actually bending the metal of the stop ring), then wrapped around the groove, and squeezed shut again with pliers.

I know this probably seems like a silly, just trial-and-error-it-yourself type of question, but I just want to make sure I don't damage any of the pieces.

Thanks!

Are you using an e-clip or one of those which is a full circle?

An e-clip can usually be popped on with a pair of pliers, it will fly across the garage at least once.

The full circle type normally require some snap-ring pliers.

Full circle, I think: https://www.af1racing.com/OEM-Aprilia-Stop-ring-8152409

Yes, those are meant to be installed using snap ring pliers.
Sometimes you can get them by working on one end and then sort of prying into the groove around the circle, but you do run the risk of bending and ruining the clip. The good news is that these should be available at your local hardware store.

Got it, thank you. I appreciate the feedback.
