Post by: ncguzzi on July 28, 2021, 05:55:30 PM
I am looking for advice on replacing current headlight on my Grisso with and LED headlight... standard 7 inch round headlight. Does anyone have any suggestions for a source?

Thanks,

Mark

Lot of options there. I use a H4 LED bulb from Cyclops, they appear to be sold out at this time. But . . . check in with them, they're showing restock on August 2nd. I like it a lot. Very bright with good pattern and didn't drain the wallet like other options.

GRiSO Ghetto forum has a whole lot of info about various bulbs, lamps and bucket conversions. Let your fingers do the waking.

Stock head light set is, you know, weak.

I believe that's the same headlight that was on my '13 V7 Stone. I installed this bulb after removing the "beauty ring'' held to the reflector with three tiny screws, fit perfectly once that's removed. Running this same bulb in my V700 and have put it in several customer bikes.

3 choices:

1.  Drop in H4 bulb like Antietam is doing.  That's what I ended up with and it's a good upgrade from stock without any mods (I got the "beauty ring there for the Griso).  It only lights half the reflector and still outclasses the stock setup.

2.  Heavily modify or completely delete the stock bucket.  As you will find Guzzi dared to be different and you can't just drop one of the 7" LED bulbs in there without a fight.

3.  Buy a new bucket.  Good news is the plastic bucket on the Griso is prone to failure anyway, so just replace it with this one:

Then you can choose the 7" LED of choice and just drop it in.  Lots of opinions on the cheap ones vs the JW Speaker and I would check the Harley forums to see what people are going with these days.  Harley forums are great for detailing advice and local bars as well :)

Like Ratso88, I have a CyclopsH4 LED in my 2018 V7III Special.  It is noticeably brighter and easy to fit.  I'm probably going to install one in my 1998 V11 EV soon.

I believe this was one of the options, but double check it for fit.  It was a bookmark I had from a while ago.

That was one of the slicker looking ones, but it's not drop-in either. There are several ways to go about mounting that one, some using the bucket, some without.
