Title: 1400 maps
Post by: guzziken15 on September 18, 2021, 09:52:24 PM
Does anyone know if beetle is still around and has a cure for the 3k RBW throttle problem on the 1400?

The last I knew he wasn't doing any right now due to a few ECUs getting bricked. If anyone knows anything different, chime in. I would like to do mine also.

He started doing them again. Just had one made for mine about a month ago.

I have the same problem with my '14 1400, except it hangs up at various speeds, including very slow idle-down.  Afraid to ride it.  Dealer says they've never heard of the problem.

I’ll check with Lucian here on the forum and see if he has encountered this issue. He has a 2014 1400 with around 30k miles and as far as I know he has not had any issues with that bike.

I can't speak to the availability of a 1400 map but I know that Mark has started helping folks with the 2020 MY V85TT again, which shares the same ECU. As mentioned above, there was a thread here a year or so ago stating that support was going to be temporarily discontinued due to the risk of bricking the ECU. I'd contact him and see what he says.

I can tell you this, if you do flash the ECU follow Mark's instructions closely. The 7SM ECU is the most finicky ECU I've flashed, and I've flashed a lot of them.

I had the privilege of installing one of his maps on my stock 2018 Eldorado and I wouldn't change it for anything  else . It's a  bit of a process  , but it was a simple case of going over everything a few times and following  his directions posted here earlier . Peter

GP Motpsports in  San Diego.  They gave me all kind of runaround.  Want to do a $500 service.  Can't give me a straight answer about re-flashing the ECM.  Think I'm just gonna dump the bike.

Haven't had this issue myself but some others have and it seems to happen mostly when very hot. Sounds like a lean condition and could have more than one cause . I would definitely check for any stored faults and also confirm that all the basic stuff is in order like valve adjustment , handle and throttle learners reset ect. Check for intake and exhaust leaks also.  This thread on GT dives into it a bit and on page twelve the poster claims his was due to a bad crank sensor which I think would throw a dash code.
