Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a Moto Guzzi v65sp. It has original seat and has had the fairing lowers removed (it has however got a 750 engine!). What I wanted to ask is, is this motorcycle comfortable. I'm not particularly tall 5'8" or so, so maybe I fit it better than some, but it seems a bit cramped compared with the bigger Guzzis and the seat looks like it forces you into a single position and maybe isn't very comfortable. I'm also wondering if the screen keeps wind blast away from your hands.

Bad Chad let me ride his V65SP a bit, and I thought at the time it was comfortable enough to be a serious touring bike. I'm also 5'8".. properly sized for a Guzzi.. :smiley:
The SP fairing is wonderful.

The fairing will not keep the wind off your hands.

When i had mine I found it fine for all day rides.

It does feel like a bike from 1984, when compared to small block from the Breva on up through the new v7. If you ride it and then get on a new v7/v9 you will understand what I mean.
It's a great middle weight touring bike, looks kick ass too. If thats what your looking for get it! If it's in great shape, it can and will do everything you want it to do.

Thanks for the info guys, it's good to know your experiences. There's a v65sp that I've got my eye on, but I'm a bit torn as I'm also keen on getting a police T5, but you hardly see them advertised and I don't want to go all the way to Italy to get one.

I have had both and the t5 is a much bigger and more powerful bike.I would take the t5 but the v 65 is ok.

I rode mine across country in 1986. 13,000 miles. Did use a sheepskin rug to sit on. I am 6' tall. It was a great bike to tour on.

It seems that the guy selling the Guzzi v65sp is a bit depressed and won't answer by text messages. Weird. How much do I hassle him is the question?

If it is the one one FaceHONK then no wonder he is depressed.

I found that the SPs, both 650 and 1000 were great fun, but the foot controls are made for small flexible feet, and the seating position is a little on the aggressive (SP or Spada sporty) side. If you are flexible, it's all good.

I found on the big sp that my legs (on my 28 inch legs) could not get under the fairing lowers, my knees would occasionally bang against the outside, which was pretty annoying. If it was like that on the big Guzzi, it must be even worse on the smaller one.

The small Guzzi's back then had very thinly padded seats and a hump in the steel pan aimed right at your tailbone. I built seats professionally for 20 years and there was no really solution to that.

My SP was a beater when I bought it, so it was no great loss to butcher it to fit me: removed the lowers and install floorboards and Convert seat:

My V65C had a reasonable seat. I rode it to Huntsville, Texas & back, a long ways from Iowa. And I don't like most seats.

The new small block Guzzi's seem better in this regard, but the seats don't fit unfortunately.

I also got the convert style seat for my 1000SP, much more comfortable than the thinly padded original
