$4,000

LOL !!!

"what it's worth" and "what it'll take to buy it" will be worlds apart.

In the USA 1991 and 1993 were the two years the 1000S was imported.

They are exceedingly rare, and nice examples have been selling in the $9,000 to $12,000 price range over the past few years.

Is there an asking price?  Some on the board would be interested in the bike if you bail out on the deal.

Thanks, sounds like they are asking far too much then.

Agreed Rocker. If I was looking and found a very clean big valve green frame I think $12 would be a near steal.

I love the look of the green and black ones.  Maybe someday I'll turn my Mille into a replica.  Are the tanks and bodywork unique to the 1000s?

Yes.  But you can get close with re-pop V7 Sport stuff.

Thanks, now I need to file this somewhere safe so I don't forget.  If my plastic side covers continue to deteriorate it may prompt me to think about the change.

Tank and side covers are closest to LM850 and LM2. The tank differs in that the fuel filler is flush with top on the 1000s.

Agree with rocker59 100% on this one! I looked at a nice, original black and orange '93 a year ago and offered the guy $9K cash and he turned it down!!

I've received unsolicited offers from several members of this board for considerably more than $10K for my 1000s.

I can't hardly take my S to a Guzzi gathering without being asked if it is for sale cause the asker knows someone who wants to buy. The conversation never goes any further. Very much a sellers market.

How much was too much?

I bet there are few guys who may be willing to shell out more than sticker for a nice 1000S...

At least my Mille seems to have the right crash bars already.     And whatever front fender I have is pretty close.  I could probably get that chromed and it would look convincing.  The truth is I'll probably never do it to my Mille, especially after I just read that there were only 200 of those imported in the US.
