Title: Follow up on the H pipe thread a while back.
Post by: Ncdan on July 28, 2021, 05:33:10 PM
A few weeks ago I started a tread on changing out the H pipe on my 2002 Stone.
There were mixed opinions, both positive and negative, so I figured I do a follow up, after making the change.
I replaced the OEM with the Mistral H, I ( hope I spelled it right this time) which appears to be the choice of most who have made this change.
I also open up the back hole of the muffler about 30%.
I am well please with the results as far as the sound and I really don’t believe It changed the Preformance in any way, that’s noticeable.
I did need to get Beetle to do a slight map adjustment due to some muffler popping but other than that all seems well.
I possibly may have dropped 50- 100 RPMs at idle but not even sure about that, as I have no tachometer.

If anyone is thinking about preforming this mod I just thought I’d throw out my take on it, as a follow up.

Thanks for the report. I also wonder what the difference is between the further back crossover vs the ones closer to the heads, if anyone knows.

Is this one of those "for off road use only" mods?

The only off road riding I do now Dave is the 2 mile gavel road down to the river house 👍
