Can any one tell me the overall length, (Axle center to top of leg) on the forks of a Le Mans 1000s or such like PLEASE..
-
Hi Mark,
As I wrote in the email I just send you, I don't have any measurements that can help you, but it might help to move the thread to the general discussion. The bike build and restoration category doesn't get as many views as the general discussion does.

I've got an 87 LM 1000, and can take a measurement for you.
Do you want the measurement from the axle center to the top of the slider? That makes sense to me, not the top of the stanchion. Is that what you need?
I am curious why this is needed - could you explain?
-
Sorry for the delayed response... That is teh measurement I need the axel center to the top of the slider unweighted.
Thanks
-
Yeah, it's been a while.
When it comes down to it I don't understand your question. What's a LeMans 411?
I can get you the measurement - guessing you don't have any forks at all and are looking for the correct ones? There are other measurements you'll need such as the caliper mounting tabs locations if that's the case.

411 is what you dial for directory assistance, in this case it's LeMans assistance.

Thanks Matteo! Goes to show how often I use directory assistance (not!)
Hey, when are you headed back to NY and can bring a guzzi home to Oregon for me? Would be good to see you again.
How's Anchorage treating you? Getting ready for winter?
-
Flying to NY in October to make wine with my uncle. Won't be down that way for at least 2 years.
Yes when you live here winter is always coming, so you are always ready. We've had blizzards in June.

It looks like it's 13.25 inches from the axle center to the top of the slider. I wasn't able to get a real exact measurement for several reasons, but that should be pretty close.
Matteo - Sounds like you're going to need a trip down here in the winter just to warm up. A friend in Los Angeles married a woman from Edmonton. After they'd been married a while she wanted to move back and be with her family. So they moved back - for about six months, then moved back to Los Angeles. She wondered how she ever put up with the snow and cold in the old days.
