Buggies I can find. Large unusual wooden statue.. hmmm. At least it's more likely than a wooden Trojan horse.

Funny Chuck, during the week we took driving around the bottom of the South Island we passed two p-laces that would have the pie and wooden horse tag.

The pie shop in Sringfield on the way over to the Coast has a pie shop that is acknowledged as having the best pies and the most arrogant and obnoxious owners!  They were so bad that when they dropped behind in their rent payments the locals took the opportunity to drum them out of town.

On the other side of Arthur's pass there is a cold, God-forsaken township of about half a dozen houses and a pub called Otira, where the sun never shines.  The whole town is owned by an a guy who can officially be called a "character".  On the roadside he has a pair of wooden horses and a wagon that used to haul barrels of beer to the pub.  I can see I will have to take a photo when I am next over there on the bike. (Still off the road for another three months over winter)

There is a bank that looks like a Plasticville Bank which is now a lawyer's office about three blocks from here......

Beautiful bike, good luck with the storm, and I just had to look up the German words gross and schuster.

What a neat shot! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Would they be Model T trucks in the background?  Could well still have the motors in them.

Thank you!  I think the truck on the left may be Model T.  Middle one might be a Mack - it has a rounded engine hood that is concave on the sides.  The one on the left is a Model A or very early '30s Ford.  There was an old Caterpillar tractor and a couple more trucks to the right.  To the left there were some trees growing up around a crane truck or something similar.  Up the hill to the right was an old bus (late '30s?) that still had paint on it and lots of trucks and road and logging equipment.  The sign said "private road" so didn't go any further.

Lumber and turpentine probably built that bank.

Thanks, I like riding the bike but of course it pisses oil here and there no matter how hard I try to fix the leaks.

Yeah, years ago I had a Norton 650 Manxman.  Found the Chilton manual for it yesterday which makes me want another featherbed.  :)    My garage floor is already ruined so a leaking Norton wouldn't cause any more noticeable damage.

Andover Norton has started reproducing Featherbed frames in case you want to start from scratch. Commando engines are fairly cheap and easy to rebuild.

A friend has two Atlas' and is crazy for my Eldo so I'd do a trade of I was really crazy.  Honestly, on a solid mount featherbed, the biggest I'd go is 650cc.

I assume that if you had the engine balanced it wouldn't vibrate so much, plus a later Commando engine is way better made in terms of the engine cases than an early 650. Anyway, if he wants to trade two Atlas's for the Eldo that is a pretty good deal IMO. Does that include all the tin?

Sorry, I misspoke (miswrote?).  I believe he'd part trade a restored Atlas for an Eldo project.  But I heard that he had a heart attack last month so I'm definitely not going to bug him anytime soon.  Atlas' sure are pretty though.

But something keeps me from getting rid of the Eldo project.  I finally got the shop cleaned up and have been cycling the 4 riders onto the lift for work.  When that's all done, the Beemer and Eldo projects may just get started.

There isn't much I can say about an Atlas other than they are bone shakers which is why I'd have to get the crank, rods and pistons balanced. Pretty bikes though.

The one great thing about Norton is the abundance of parts for the old bikes, Andover Norton has reproduced a lot of these parts and the quality is excellent. The original headlight on my bike needed to be re-chromed and it also needed a new trim but I purchased a complete light from Andover and it was an excellent reproduction for a reasonable amount of money. Same with the front fender, it also needed to be re-chromed so I just ordered a new one and even with shipping from England the prices are reasonable. And before -, I could place an order on a Monday and usually get the order early the following week. The same part from any of the dealers in the states or Canada are more money and they all come from Andover.

A Dunstallised Atlas was one of the more memorable bikes I have ever ridden.

Geared down so that it didn't do much over 105mph, how it got there was devastating!

Would a "still in use" Amtrak station suffice? There's at least three within 20 miles of me.

Sure. I wish that ours was still operating but after the hurricanes in 2005 they haven't been opened.

Hope everyone is OK in NZ.

Here's an abandoned passenger station.  I got off the train here (pre-Amtrack) when I was 5-6 years old!

Next tag is a railroad bridge.  Not as easy to take a picture with the bike.  "If you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk!"

D'oh! It was hot this afternoon..still no rain, so I took the G5 out to tempt Mother Nature to rain on me. Grabbed the old movie theater and got the picture by parking in a "No Parking" zone. Got a tag, and SED has beat me to the punch.  :boxing:

Despite it being just a little "warm", after our monthly breakfast, I rode over to the C&O Canal/Potomac/Sharpsburg/Shepherdstown area for a grab and new tag.

Railroad trestle. Norfolk Southern, crosses from MD across the canal and river into WV.

New tag: university/college/tech school/etc. Shepherd University.

This is an ex-high school built in the 1920's and is now a training center for the FDLE(Florida Department Law Enforcement) and other things..

And I maybe repeating something but this is a historical statue.

General Bernardo de Galvez.
"After successfully capturing British positions in Louisiana and Mississippi, Spanish General Bernardo de Galvez, commander of the Spanish forces in North America, turns his attention to the British-occupied city of Pensacola, Florida, on March 9, 1781."

I can come up with something else if this is a repeat.
