I tried to sign up last year but my '01 California EV wasn't accepted. I signed up this past Tuesday and to my surprise my EV was ok, although my plan was to use my '84 Cal II with the sidecar that I recently acquired. They automatically set my goal at $1,00.00. I didn't have time to get sponsors to raise money. Then I was looking at how you're supposed to dress and I don't think I want to ride in my suit and tie. I really don't think that I would be "dapper" enough to fit in with this group. No offense to the cause, but I'm not high enough on the totem pole. I'll just send my own donation to the cause and do something else with my day.
A bit late on this... just tried to sign up for the Dahlonega ride but the registration is full, bummer. Going to be a beautiful day tomorrow, guess I'll ride up on the Le Mans and be a spectator at TWO.
Dude, if you wanna ride, just show up. First, no one will know or even care. Probably just be glad they had more riders show up. Next, the road belongs to the public. No one can tell you where to ride.
It's this Sunday. Taking the V11 Sport. Not a lot of mention of it although the local ride has the biggest signup ever with 51.
Wasn't sure if they are escorted, but yeah thinking about doing that. Tomorrow will be perfect weather and there will be a ton of bikes up at TWO. Now I just have to get myself up to Dalonega by 9am... skipping the whiskey tonight. Have a good ride on your side!
I like the concept and the cause. I don’t care so much for group rides or the hipster aesthetic. It’s no less valid than the vintage European vibe that I like. That’s what makes motorcycling great - it draws all kinds.
We had a good turn out here in Perth, West Oz. Weather was perfect and after the event I headed up the hills for a wander through the hills back home.I think the prerequisite for a retro bike style is out the window as most bikes were modern.
Having done one group ride with strangers that was enough to never want to do it again. Rather ride by myself than be frustrated with a group of strangers.
the rules for DGR are that speeds have to be under 25mph. really. not the best for this old iron on a hot day.
Glad you guys had fun. But seems there are still complete tools running some of these rides.Actually I think that makes them worse than the despicable Harley crowd that they look down on all the time. They tried so hard to be different that they wound up being the same.PS. My earlier characterization definitely fits them and any soft lady-boy here who goes off and complains to moderators because they need a safe space.Me I think I'll keep skipping the Big"D"gr rides thanks.Peace out
I never even heard of this thing other than this post. It's a charity run? Is there a website?-AJ
25 miles total, not to exceed 40MPH posted on the roads selected.
ok, might've misunderstood.... well the group leader did. Really 25mph. not hot weather, so it was ok.
Great photo of that green Guzzi by the snow pile!!
