Brake lights flashing? Cal 1400
« on: July 24, 2015, 10:49:53 PM »
Can anyone tell me why my brake lights are flashing?

Only the brake lights, nothing in the front.
They flash with the engine running or off, and with the ignition on or off.
I noticed it when I pulled into my driveway, but for all I know they were flashing while I was driving.
I've looked for something in the owners manual, but nada.

Thanks.

When I disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, the flashing stops.  When I reconnect, the flashing resumes.

I had this issue when I first demo' done but I can't for the life of me what it was. Something related to the alarm I think? Have you read the book?

This won't help, but I can confirm that there's nothing in the owner's manual about brake lights flashing based on some fault or alarm. Hmmm...

Try using the alarm bypass plug that came with the bike

I posted on the same issue a year ago. I thought something was wrong, then somebody read the manual for me 😉. It is a hazard flash future of the alarm. It is turned on when the button on the fob is pushed with ignition on, and it will continue to flash the brake ligths even if the key is removed. It is turned off the same way - push the fob button once with ignition on.

Are you sure you're not removing your key in the "Parking Lights" position? That illuminates some lights to help spot the bike if it is parked near a roadway.  :boozing:

Problem solved.  Thanks, everyone.

Jim Barons got me straightened out.
Apparently I pushed the wrong button on the Alarm Fob.
To stop the flashing I had to push that button - the large button - again, twice.  Then pull out the key.
Then I was good to go.

Glad this happened to me in my garage.
Thanks again.
