Breva 750 rear fender on V7?
« on: March 30, 2020, 08:55:24 AM »
Looking to 'lighten' the look of my V7 III rear fender but not sure I want to pull out a saw and being cheap, don't want to spend the big money for the metal fender and associated mounting hardware. The Breva 750 rear fender has a nice shape and there are several on eBay. Wondering if the rear sub frames are similar enough to make it fit.

Should be. The only difference I can see, tho' I don't have an engineer's eye, is the V7 has a plate across the rear (the last bit over the fence) for holding the seat lock. But do note that the Breva's guard is basic, thin, matt black plastic, definitely not pretty, it's the Breva bodywork & rack furniture that pretty it up.

Personally I don't see anything pretty about a Breva. I see it as a workhorse and nothing more.

Try it out.  If it doesn't work, resell it on Ebay.

On my V7 Mk I the standard rear light and number plate are very low down and go past the rear end of the mudguard.  I repositioned them about 50mm further up the mudguard....looks much tidier....and shortened the indicator stems by removing the spacers.
It may be different on the V7 Mk III?

Andy - That is what I was planning to do, along with removing the heavy valances to lighten the look further. Was considering alternatives to cutting the stock fender when I saw the Breva has a much smaller profile, esp if you remove the huge plate holder.

Can you post a picture of your Mk I? Would like to see how your bike turned out.

Don’t try to tell my wife that about her Red BB she loves the look of it more than her Black 04 Stone Touring. But she is a girl.

Hi
I hope this shows it OK - if not please say and I will take another photo tomorrow.
The bottom end of the number plate is about 20mm above the lower end of the mudguard

Andy, any chance you could post a side view?

That's very helpful - thank you! It does look better than the stock position and would facilitate a bit more of a fender bob.

Different question. Have located a metal fender and the license plate bracket from a V7 II. The part numbers are different but they sure *look* the same as the III parts. Anyone have an idea if they would fit?
