Really interesting link…thanks! Never heard of them before

1948, their film was used in the movie The Bicycle Thief

2008, the iPhone was invented, destroying 90% of their market

Revitalized by a kickstarter campaign 2014, first new film in 2017

$14 for 12exp in a 120 roll, so a buck a pop when you squeeze the trigger YIKES 😱
Then processing and printing?

Most analog fotogs move quickly to a darkroom. Lots of manipulation going on there with your negatives, VS getting a machine print set AUTO

Just what is that AUTO setting anyway? He asked rhetorically…

…..Light meters tell you how to make a negative that’s halfway between black and white. The live in the camera, and in the big machine printers

Negatives, color or black/white can be printed, by hand or machine, up or down in exposure and contrast …but in a limited degree before image quality drops off the table. Image details in the shadows and highlights can be affected by the hand printing them, less so in a machine

I just grabbed MerleLowe’s excellent foto, and “reprinted” it. The result is where it becomes an :

Oil, Tires, Rpm Thread…everyone has an opinion. I’ve overdone the change to accent the difference in opinion about how a negative ‘should be’ printed.

I’ve made two entirely different images from one negative. Both are right for the one that created it, but shows the range available in the darkroom

The difference is slight when viewed small, greater when larger. Another variable
