Eldo Pics for Dan
« on: March 25, 2023, 10:57:21 AM »
I found out that Ncdan has a love for Eldos.  I thought I would create a post so that our hard working moderator can get his fill of pictures in one place.     Feel free to chime in with your own personal favorite Eldo/Ambo photos.  Mine is an original paint 74 vintage with Amal carbs.

I found I prefer the looks of the stock tandem seat over the solo.  Both are pretty comfortable.  What do you guys prefer?

Standard dual seat, torpedo mufflers, disc brake front end. Those bottom two pics are my idea of the absolute ideally configured Moto Guzzi that I admired and wished I could own when they came out. I now feel that any Moto Guzzi owner should have a loop frame model at some point in their motorcycle career. Absolutely iconic!

Great pictures Dave thanks for cheering me up on a very snowy day!

Pictures are as found the day that I picked it up I've known the history of the bike since it was new and bought it from an estate.

It's a rolling chassis at this point going on a third-year hobby project hopefully be on the road this year 2023.

'73 Eldorado that was given to me by a gentleman in Airville, PA:

'75 Eldo police with 4890 miles on it that I bought at an estate auction a month later:

The huge ugly Harley/Vetter Liberator fairing in the background was on it.

Both future projects.

I’ve always been a fan of the original dual seat on these.

@Jhem, I’ll have mine eventually..

I guess I’m a little biased but I prefer the “solo” as its more of the ole police bike look,  like in the Dirty Harry 70’s movie “ “Magnum force” back in the early 70’s.

My '72 eldo.  I bought it from the original owner in 2013, it had been sitting since the early '80's.  I did the usual,,,cylinders, sludge trap, trans & rear drive re-seal, ujoint, relube wheel, swing arm & head bearings, fork seals, deep spline clutch, wiring, shim distributor, headlight & coil on relays, tires and alternator conversion.  Nothing cosmetic.  What else am I forgeting??!!

I like it a lot!

These old Eldos brings back the memories of the first one I ever saw. It was in the early 80’s.
It was sitting at a gas station, at the pumps.
I was asking the owner about it, who was gassing her up. When I ask what it was and he said “mota guzzey” I said “a what”?
The Eldo was a black one with fishtail pipes and it sounded great.
I never got that bike out of my head and vowed I’d own one some day.
Someday the right one will come along.

This is BJ Schwartz, an extraordinary Guzzi guy from California who rode to Iowa (this is at the Iowa Rally...2001/2/3?).  At least that bike started off as an Eldo...oops- an Ambassador.  I'll leave it-
JB-Iowa" border="0

My first Eldo was a '73- I bought it from a guy in Illinois.  It had a 4LS brake.
jrtguzzi1" border="0

I don't know this gent's name, but he showed up at the first ever WildGuzzi Rally.  That rally was put together by none other than our own Luap.  Great, great roads around Noel, MO.
This fellow had the biggest darn wod on the back of his Eldo.  Hilarious.
