Lm5 rear disk min thickness
« on: May 23, 2016, 11:59:56 AM »
Anyone know the min thickness for the Rear disc for LM5?  Most sources say 5.8 mm but my disc doesnt seems to be only 5.75mm on the un-swept portion. The front disc is, but the rear looks thinner to start with???

The runout number should be cast into the rotor.  Look for them in the unswept or web area.

Cast iron Brembo rotors are stamped on the edge of the disc (at least the early ones fitted to Tonti framed bikes were).

I could not find stamped numbers or cast numbers on my '91 lmv.  Mine measured 0.240 in.  The bike has approx 11 k mi.  Hope that helps...

Checked the edge but if it was then 25 British winters have long erased it.

The outer edge measured 5.88mm and the swept area 4.75mm.  My gut feeling is that its probably ok but near its limit.  The disk has about 90K miles on it. Front disks are great.

Is your rear disk thinner than the fronts?
