I live in Connecticut. Had bike shipped to me. Received it a month ago on the only 50 degree day in a long time 18 degrees out right now. Argh! 4 to 6 weeks of winter left.

Yeah....12 degrees right now and 8-10" of snow on the way tomorrow in southern Vermont.  Siiigggghhhhhhhhh.

What other bikes have you had besides the Bonneville?  I'm always curious how other people have arrived at Guzzi ownership.  There is a wealth of information on the site.  Sift through the grouchiness and there are many, many pearls of wisdom here.  There are several highly respected members of the Guzzi community in the CT area.  If you're up this way once the snow melts give me a shout.

Lets see, where do I start. Allstate scooter, Zundap, Honda 305 Scrambler, BSA Thunderbolt, BSA Lightning, Norton Commando 750 Combat engine, BSA Rocket III, BMW R 80, Triumph Bonneville T100 efi and Moto Guzzi California 1400 touring. I think thats it.

Interesting progression.  The Cali 1400 will be quite a departure.  I had a T100 efi for a while.  The Cali is definitely faster than the T100, and probably faster than any of your previous rides, with the possible exception of the Norton.

I think your biggest challenge will be the weight.  You really only notice it at very low speeds and when pushing the bike around in the parking lot and the garage, but it is a 700 lb bike.  I'd put a 1,000 miles or so on it before I'd make any changes.  My Cali Custom was the first cruiser with floorboards I had ever owned, so it took  a little getting used to.  I have 22,000 trouble free miles on the bike.

Enjoy.  Ride it hard like you probably rode the Brit bikes and you'll have a great time.

Hi all.

I'm new to Guzzi's and this forum. But guess what??? I bought this bike! Paid 10 grand for it with 900 miles on it and approximately $2500 worth of accessories on it. It is a barge....compared to my Triumph Bonneville. Its a cruiser, its supposed to be and it runs just fine in all 3 modes. I'm 6 foot 2 inches and i am not cramped. I love the bike so thats the story and I'm sticking to it. Just wish the snow would go away and the temp. would rise about 50 degrees.

Congrats.  What is this snow you are talking about?  You live at altitude?

Berkshire mountains of Connecticut. Beautiful in summer but if you don't like snow and cold, it sucks in winter.

Ahh.  Didn't realize you traveled to get the bike.  I passed across the northern part of Connecticut in '14.

Saville Dam. One of my favorite places to go for a short ride. Lots of bikers go there.
