Title: Moto Guzzi Sightings in Movies and Videos
Post by: Groover on August 10, 2015, 10:22:55 AM
Cruising YouTube for 90's music videos over the weekend with my girlfriend, we discovered a 3-sec sighting of a 1st generation Moto Guzzi G5 in a video. She's actually the one whom said, "isn't that a Moto Guzzi?", and then the rewinding over and over began.. That made my day! (she's been paying attention to me blabbering all the time about Moto Guzzis and G5's in particular)

Alice and Chains - Would? (It shows up in the beginning. 0.15-0.18 sec)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nco_kh8xJDs

And to just to do a service to the entire world, I posted my findings on IMCDb.org

Rush Hour was on the other day and I was surprised to noticed that Chris Tucker hijacks a Guzzi to chase down Jackie Chan.

Magnum force would have to be the Grandaddy of 'em all, no? What with all the rogue cops riding Eldorados until the stunt sequences at the end when they switched to light weight Triumphs....

I think you're right, but there were enough running bikes after that one that still more were crashed in Electric Horseman...

one of our previous members (Sheldon) put together the full Internet list of all the movies featuring at least one Guzzi.  I'm sure it's still out there, someplace.

Ooops. sorry. I would've rather added on to something already out there and I also thought I had seen it once. I searched before making the thread, but I didn't come up with anything.

Edit: Searched again and found this:

I wish they still made those, the Ann Margrets I mean. These days you can't be sure if it isn't something closer to caulking.

My kids pointed out to me; in the scene where Audrey slips away from her minders and gets into the back of a 3 wheeled delivery van/ motor bike. It proudly says Moto Guzzi on the tank.

At about the 13-14 second mark in the vid on this page a very nice example of an early sport is prominently displayed. Don't blink.

Any classic film fans here?  I was watching Fellini's "La Strada" yesterday and it looks one of the main characters played by actor Anthony Quinn uses a Guzzi Ercole...it's part of a traveling carnival act...anybody know for sure? Were there other Italian three-wheeled truckettes with motorcycle handlebars and tank?

Ok, posted this in response to Swivelwheel trailer video after seeing thumbnail of dustbin Gilera in "recommended videos" afterwards.  It should also be in this thread.

At the very beginning, there is mention of the Guzzi V8 & Guzzi single entries and team riders during 1957 IoM TT.  Pretty sure it shows one Guzzi rider astride his bike but cannot see the bike.  Not sure if the bike 23 visible in background is a Guzzi or not, but cannot find that number linked to Guzzi on a quick google look.

No matter, watching and listening to the real Gilera GP 500 and the replica run IoM is well worth the click- https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xbX2pmV5pmw (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xbX2pmV5pmw)

Yeah, she does her own riding in the movie "The Prophet".

Dialogue:
Ann: "Oh..I need gas. Do you have 1000 lira?"
Prophet replies: "No. I left my wallet at home ...5 years ago."

...for the price of five gallons worth of gas!!

She is currently 77 and was supposedly riding as recently as five years ago.  Haven't heard more recently.

This is my favorite Guzzi movie scene from Harold and Maude.

I've commented before.  The police chase scenes were filmed on the then active but now abandoned old causeway for the Dumbarton Bridge here in Fremont, CA.  Just a few miles from my home.  Visit me like Bruce did and I'll take you to the spot were Maude steals the Guzzi from the moto cop.

Twowings, your last photo is an Ercole. The first two photos are not, I'm not an expert on these but my guess would be they're the Gilera Mercurio (derived from the Saturno motorcycle model), very similar. You can clearly see the vertical cylinder - Guzzi never made a vertical single, as far as I know.  Could also be a Bianchi, and possibly others...

The cop in Harold and Maude is a young Tom Skerritt.

There's a new show I just started watching called "Killing Eve".  When the assassin goes to Tuscany she's riding one of the newer V7cafe racers.

True, but look into the film credits.  He thought it would be a major flop and so had himself listed as Martin Borman.  Go figure.

Killing Eve is a good show and unexpectedly seeing her ride the Guzzi was an exciting surprise.

Hah!  I've seen that photo dozens of times.  First time I ever noticed the trailer cinch strap going down from the rider's (Maude's) right handlebar.  Seems to also be some trailer tongue mechanism in the lower right of the photo.

Hello
This week I spotted an alloy tank, cafe racer Guzzi in the Netflix series Tidelands. First episode parked outside the pub. I must ask Billy about how his bike ended up in the shot.

Also a 1000S in 'He died with a Felafel in his Hand.'

Cheers

Arguably, the most iconic Harley-Davidson film is Easy Rider and the most iconic Triumph film is The Wild One. Is there an iconic Moto Guzzi film, not simply one in which the bike briefly appears?

^^^^  Don't know.

None of the images in this thread are new to me.  I thought that I had seen all of the Goose TV and film appearances.  Lately, with more time on my hands, I've found some old stuff that's on some of the odd channels.  And found this new-to-me guest shot.  Name that show!

There is a whole page dedicated to that show and the vehicle appearances.
