Clutch cable rubber boot

So how do you get the "Domino" rubber boot back on the end of the clutch cable.  Do you have to slit it?

Heat it up so it'll stretch and lube the crap out of it? I've also used a pair of (Benelli factory) snap-ring pliers inserted into the opening to stretch it open enough to push the cable through.

Its fitted by a small sect of monks who dwell in the hills behind lake Como.
Many years of meditation, swill for meals and no sex are the prerequisites to be allowed to tackle this most difficult of tasks.
Fitting of the boots to new clutch cables is the sects only income.

Brute strength, ignorance and lubrication may not be the answer, but they don't hurt.

Many who try this task without the meditation, swill and no sex dispare, weaken and just buy a new cable, it keeps the monks fed :thumb:

I've used Mineral Spirits to put grips on, maybe that will work too in this case? Makes the rubber slick while wet, sticks once dry.
