engine out of convert or not
« on: January 24, 2023, 12:06:05 AM »
Can I remove just the transmission of my Convert by removing swing arm and raising the rear of frame to allow trans to come back and leave motor insitu or do I have to do the Tonti thing and lift the complete frame from engine gear box assembly . When I rebuilt my V7 sport I removed the complete frame from the the lump but this time I just want to get the trans assembly out of the Convert and hoping there is a short cut . Ray.

Yes you can pull it off by crabbing the frame. I used a good sized wooden box taller than the centerstand underneath the motor and removed the front wheel to leave room for the front forks to move towards the floor as you lift the back

Be sure to have a drain pan under the transmission--you will drain about 1/2 of the fluid in the torque converter.

I did when I did mine.
