1955 Guzzi Airone

This looks to be a pretty nice Airone, the price seems fair to me.

Boy, that's a pretty bike.  Price does seem reasonable.

How do these bike ride & perform?  I don't mean in comparison to a modern VTwin with sticky tires, but in comparison to other 250 bikes of the 50's-60's like maybe a BMW single or maybe early Ducati single like a Monza with small carb.   I'm guessing it's a fairly sedate bike to ride?

I dont understand the description? you used to get paid on ebay via paypal...  Ebay owns Paypal. But now ebay has moved away from paypal and is using an in-house ebay payment platform since Paypal is now bigger in the merchant payment processing game.

How is that an attack on your personal liberties? Weird.

" How is that an attack on your personal liberties? Weird. "

If you sell much on ebay, you probably feel like they are too intrusive with their many ever changing ways of weaseling nickels out of you at every turn and introducing hidden charges at every turn. Also, living in California probably feels like you are being infringed upon in general, these days. I understand how he feels, but I do not know if I would describe it as an infringement of personal liberties. Some people view taxes and parking tickets as infringement on personal liberties. I had better stop talking about personal liberties, since it will devolve into a political discussion.

a friend has a BMW single , those are for sure slower.
not sure about early ducati singles , the ones i am familiar with are the sixties/seventies ones , those are ( a lot) faster.

the airone is a fifties motorcycle , pretty lacking compared to current bikes , but that is part of the charm...

Thanks, man.  I was expecting (hoping) they're more exciting than a BMW single, but still figured it would be more of the accrued-momentum experience like many other bikes of the era.   Those early Guzzi singles are extremely rare in this area.  Even the later Nuovo Falcones are almost never seen.

From the Guzzi Singles Google Group:

I have a 1935 GTV project bike for sale for $8500.00.  Located in
Richmond, CA.  Bike needs new tires/tubes, paint touchup, and electrical
wiring.  Anyone interest should note that I'm not interested in shipping
this thing any where, just come with your pickup and get it.

Cheers,

A friend has a 1948 500 cc version with exposed valve gear, he let me try it out.

The rear brake pedal takes some getting used to, besides being on the left hand side it's also behind the footpeg.
I was flying up to a 4 way stop and applied the front brake just to have the nipple pull off the cable, luckily nothing was coming as I shot through the stop without brakes, as I said the rear takes some getting used to. Apart from that it's a nice bike to ride, sort of like a loop on steroids.

They are just a fun bike to ride. Comfortable and simple to ride. The BMW is more powerful than the Airone or at least more powerful than mine.
The back brake is fine once you get used to it. I find I need to slide towards the back of the seat to get the proper leverage on it.
