headpipe confusion 98ev
« on: May 23, 2019, 05:41:47 PM »
Head pipes appear slightly different. Brain fart here and need to double check.
Does the Motoguzzi stamp near the end of the pipe face out or in?
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

I just re-assembled my Sport and ran into the same dilemma. So I looked in my parts book to get them on the correct side. My stamps go to the outside.

The shorter headpipe goes on the cylinder closest to the front of bike.

No, wait, shouldn't that be the other way around? Shorter pipe to the cylinder closest to the rear of the bike?

That's what I'm thinking but would like to be sure.
Edit: The stamp would face inside then.

Shorter at head, before the bend. BUT Total length is longer(after the bend).

Thanks, can see what you're saying.
That puts the stamp on the outside.

I think one pipe might be longer due to the uneven firing order.  One cylinder works a little harder.  #1 goes 3/4 of a turn and #2 goes 1 1/4 turns.
