dreaming is cheap , so i can dream.....MV Agusta content
« on: February 09, 2015, 04:31:43 PM »

If i had to have only one motorcycle no matter the budget , this will be the one .

I am not an expert so i don't know how "original/period correct this one is but looks good enough to me.

I remember Jay Leno has one and there is a video on U tube , the sound that this bike make...is ...... i have no words..

In '78 those were sort of cheap, maybe $4000/5000 from Cosmo. There was a rumor that some were "parts" bikes as they cleared them out.

Now look.

I always dug these but the one... one time an example crossed my radar and with extreme fiscal stretching was within my reach two things got in the way.

One, I knew I'd ride the crap outa it - or as much as it allowed.

The other, the shaft drive worried me as it seemed even more one-off than the basic bike itself.

I'da had to have taken the pistons out to protect it from me. Then, why bother? Money went to a TR250 and an MGA... some people never learn!

In this dream of yours (and I've had some similar ones) does your "budget" include an ace mechanic and access to the parts necessary to ride it regularly and hard?

That could get really expensive.

In my dream, if it includes all the maintenance, I'd ride a Morbidelli V8 to the next Guzzi rally and show it off.

If the budget DOESN'T include all the maintenance, I'd have a perfect fully equipped V700 or early Ambo ......

I'd have the Garagello Magnifico with Mr. Slark and crew as attendants. I'm expecting the numbers to hit any time now.

Albert Bold is a well known restorer of these machines. He specializes in chain-drive conversions.

I rode with him this past Fall-- he was on a freshly restored 750 America.

Do your own Google search or at least see this:

A chain drive conversion is a big improvement on those.
Say hello to Al for me, he's a friend of mine. He is the go-to man on all things MV, plus a really good guy.

Keeping it Italian....

All spares, tools, DIY knowledge and patience would be supplied with both of course.  Along with an Italian chef.

Oh, yeah. A Magni MV is SO much better to ride than a "normal" one. But adjusting valves...a bit harder.
