I have an opportunity - need a Quota
« on: May 23, 2016, 11:08:06 PM »
Being old enough that I remember exactly where I was when I learned JFK was shot I'm getting a little anxious when it comes to time and my ability.

So I was thinking of an adventure with my youngest son who's still at home.  For this I need a decent pair of Quotas, not a Quota with 80,000 miles or one that costs dam near a Stelvio but a decent Quota.  Two of my boys love the Idea that it was designed for Gaddafi. it must be a Mil_Spec thing

If anyone knows of one please let me know.  I've always been one to "jump off the cliff" and I figure I have time for one last jump.

Thanks,

Mark

Here's one

You'll have to come to Australia to get it though! Is that enough of an adventure?

I had a Quota and glad I no longer do. Deafening wind noise (even with ear plugs in), Wind buffeting (even with wings installed), terrible unpredictable fuel mileage (sometimes you'd get 45 MPG next tank 30 MPG), Stock exhaust is known for cracking issues, as are some of the wheels. Nothing aftermarket available for it and its about as light as a pallet of lead ingots (although it handles very well). I put 5,000 miles on the Q in a couple of months. Sold it and bought a DR650 and couldn't be happier.

If you must get a Quota or two please try and take them on as long as a test ride as possible. 2 or 3 miles isn't going to do it. Do a 10 or 20 mile stint on a highway at speed and you may have a whole new outlook on a Quota.

Guzzi made the Quota for Muammar Gadaffi??  I remember when he set up his tent on Via Del Corso in Rome.  Maybe they made the Quota to get him out of town.

I love my Quota! 70k and still going strong. Just bought a O9 Stelvio but I'll keep the Quota for the dirty rides. Of corse when you are looking to buy one the can't be found.

Enjoy

I think the Quota mentioned in Iowa would be mine. It has been an awesome bike. My best friend bought it from Neds in 2005 and he loved it until he sold it to me in 2013. I have had it since then. Unfortunately, it has about 76K mile on it, so it does not strictly meet your requirements.

I have had zero problems with it in the last 3 years. Everything runs & works fine on it.

It comes already fully kitted out with the big Tourtech aluminum panniers, windwings, a Ned's seat and a big ol' windshield. This Quota has a nice still air pocket at highway speeds.

This bike is dead solid reliable and I would ride it anywhere. It also has a nice TomTom, 2 new tires and lots of extras to go with it.
