No shotgun reloading but I have to start this year because California went No-Lead for hunting in the entire state which means my 20 ga ammo went from $8 a box to $80 a box.  I can't use steel shot in my '39 LC Smith or almost any other shotgun build before the '70s.  That's 1970 and it ain't that long ago.

Yep, 9mm even cheaper.  Supplies are sort of back to normal. For a really long time you couldn't get primers or powder around here.

.223 though very little and only very particular loadings as bulk ammo is too cheap to bother.
30-06 but not for my Garands.
9mm though a pistol round - I load up some weirdos for my 9mm carbine.
.308 in the past for Mule Deer but factory offerings meet or exceed that old load.
.22-250 for my 30 pound bench-rest but less these days as my throats going away.

formerly:
.30-40 for my Krag and Mullies but the Krags been sent on in favor of an FR-8.
.404 "Jeffrey" - it went away when the 9.3 was finished.

Still waiting on dies for my 9.3x62. That'll be for Elk and above. Antlers, horn or teeth. Likely gonna be a 9.3x74 within two years as well.

Don't like rims and don't like belts if they can be avoided.

Espescially if you buy 1 oz loads on sale

.270, is predominantly a hunting round. Manufacturers offer a lot of quality loadings with excellently performing projectiles so not really being a "target" round, re-loading returns few benefits other than the peace of slow loading a pet hunting round.

.270 owners/users, generally being very practical folk in my experience.

.270? Probably a fan of the 20 Ga. too, eschewing the inherent waste and high falootedness of a 12.

24ga.  The shotgun is a Charlin, made in the St Entienne region of France in the 20's.  Double barrel, double trigger with a sliding breech (if you know what a Darne is, very similar).  24ga was popular in Europe due to the ease of turning a Martini-Henry into a smoothbore to satisfy laws of gun ownership.  Made for paper cartridges.  I have all brass cases and use modern 20ga wads with 28ga loads.

For rifle, mostly 6.5 X 55 Swedish Mauser (my favorite), followed by .308 Win, 30-06, .223 Rem, 30-30 Win., .303 British, and 7.5 Swiss.  Will soon be reloading for 11.4 X 57 Swedish and 8X 58R--to feed some old Swede rolling blocks.

For pistol, .38 Special (my favorite), .44 Special (second favorite), .45 ACP, .45 AR, .44 Mag, .357 Mag, .40 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .38 S&W, 9mm, and .32 ACP.  Will soon be reloading for 7.5 Swedish Nagant and .30 Luger.   

I cast a lot of my own bullets as well.

Right now-
300win mag for the bolt gun
.308 win for the bolt gun and AR-10
.223 for the AR-15 (heavy bullets only or single feeders)

soon- .300 aac blackout subsonic once the suppressor comes in. I just need to build another upper for the AR for a 2 minute swap from .223 to 300BO suppressed.

You can reload with much tighter tolerance than factory ammo. Get spot on speed, powder burn rates, match bullets, proper bullet seating depth, and other things needed to start nailing long distance tight groups. It makes a big difference at 1000+ yards for the larger calibers. Fun stuff to play with

Being older, I tend to like old calibers and my reloads for rifles include the venerable .30-'06 and the somewhat younger, also timeless, .22-250.  I well am aware that there are numerous "new-comers" with impressive ballistics, but I cannot see much sense in trying to improve on these time-honored cartridges.  I have unfired brass and dies for my .348 Winchester, but haven't loaded any yet.
