Back on the road: Jackal v6.3
« on: April 19, 2021, 09:40:06 AM »
Haven't been around here much lately. Busy winter, work is a cluster blah blah blah. Decided to address a few glaring issues with my Jackal, for the most part it was successful. Most importantly, she came off the lift for a good 100 mile test, And she performed flawlessly.

New rear fender (after I had a mishap dismounting a lift last spring) in original color, thanks to a member here.
New Tailight cluster with LEDs
Front LED turn signals
New Handlebar/grips/mirrors
Ikon's
Added a cheapo Voltage indicator/USB mount on the dash.

Seating position has changed, which i didn't immediately shine to, and that came as a surprise. But by the end of the ride, my body adjusted.

Perhaps the most interesting contribution came from someone most of you hear of every now and again, my buddy Austin who has apprenticed with our own Chuck, and is a talented kid who's not one to turn away from any challenge. He fashioned some standoffs for the front turn signals, that in my opinion came out great. Current iteration is not final, he's going to shave a MM here and there, but they are robust and blended nicely with the all aluminum micro LED's I found which also perform surprisingly well.

I've got bags and a screens etc, but it seems I'm regressing to where I'm appreciating this minimalist bike even more.

Austin's Standoffs

Cockpit, rear cluster

Jackal, revisited.

Looking very nice, seems you don't see many Red jackals in general. You've done a nice job with that one!  :thumb:

Nice! What rack did you mount?

Matteo, it's identical to the rack/backrest that came with the bike when I bought it. I came across another one, cut off the backrest mounts, filled with weld, polished and powdercoated. Makes for a great, robust 'deck' for mounting a dry bag or bungie net.

I still have the original if I ever have someone riding consistently.

The whole thing looks just great.
Love the handlebars in the top shot, they look a bit like early Bonneville ones and the whole thing has a bit of an Indian vibe going on.
The seat looks superb, well done IMO...

Thanks all y’all for the attaboys!

Nice, just bought a 8000 miles from new red jackal yesterday

Needless to say I’m jealous. My girlfriend, who’s pretty apathetic about the bike thing, did take a stand when I was running over my winter plans a few months back. They included a full paint job in a different color (I’d like to lose the Jackal graphic)

Babe, she says, that bike is red. Don’t you dare.

And here we are.

Best value out there in used bikes imho. Hope it meets your needs as mine has.
