850 T lay shaft
« on: April 20, 2021, 03:59:57 PM »
Has anyone else had trouble finding a lay shaft for a 850T? My 5th gear is worn and T3s  eldos ect. shafts are all over. I think the T3 shaft would work if I also replaced the dogs and the sliding sleeve, as those part no. are one off as well.

Is it #54 in this illustration that you're looking for?

The center splines are different (longer) pushing 4th gear into the cas.e. There is also the possibility that my bike built in 11/74 has the T3 type lay shaft since it has an oil filter which seems to be the exception in 850Ts. I sent my lay shaft to harper MG to see if he could match up with something he had in the warehouse. If this doesn't pan out I'm back to square one. I appreciate the response and will post my results

Curtis at harper MG came though with a nos lay shaft. The T is a roller today waiting to get the wiring harness installed from Greg Bender, Thanks to all who contribute to this great site most people in my neck of the woods do not know what a moto guzzi is.
