^^^Who is the brave soul riding the 500 CC Triumph ?

We have three professional musicians who show up regularly.  One plays in the Pittsburgh symphony, one is a teacher/academic in the school system, and one plays in a regionally famous reggae band.  No surprise that the Triumph belongs to the rastaman.  :)  He has other similar bikes-- they run great but are definitely "unrestored".

We had modern bikes, too.  I covet one of these:

My day is going great- I just got home with several years of Classic Bike magazines, free via Craigslist.  After I arrived for pickup, the generous man named Carl also gave the bound & complete volumes of the first three years of Classic Bike.   Not much overlap with the few issues I bought and still have from back then.  Very cool.

Edit-   Well, hot damn! Posted the above around Noon. It's about 4:30pm now.  Carl just emailed to say he found three more bundles of Classc Bike magazines and he'll bring them to town for me on his next trip.   Very cooler....

Gave about 90 copies of CB from the '80's and early '00's to a friend , not sure he has ever read them all .

So far, my favorite thing found is this cut away drawing of the V8 Guzzi by Bill Bennett in the Fall 1978 issue (magazine #3). I've been trying to find it elsewhere online, possibly as a poster but so far no luck.

Maybe someone here knows of a source?

I had a long day at the office ending at 8:30 with two contentious zoom hearings.  I rode home in the dark and a light rain over empty streets on my 750 Commando.  No one to hear the engine rip but me. I felt 18. I wish it could have lasted longer.

Always liked those Visions.  Pretty mixed reviews from owners, though.

I lusted after the 82, then with the upgrades they made to the 83, the magazines loved it.  Always wanted one, never got one.

Agree with the questionable owner reviews.  I recently saw a nice looking 83 on craigslist in VA.

Good thing I don't have more garage space.

SV 650's are about 100 lbs lighter and a known quantity as a great bike.

Pic on the right taken when I lived in Venice, Fl. 1985. 24yrs old.
Left side is a '79 Bonneville bought here in Hotlanta..

Second NEW bike I ever bought was this 1982 Vision, a leftover bike from the "dumping days", (remember those deals!!!).
Paid $1,600. ..less than HALF what they went for when it first came out!
After second alternator failed, got nervous and sold it. I do miss it, mostly from memories of 1,200 mile round trip rides on it every other weekend to see my girlfriend (seems there's always a woman involved  :boozing:)

I like that 750 triple.  It’s the only one of the 1,2,3,4 series (500, 650, 750, 1100) I haven’t owned. And it looks like there is another right next to it.

Bad day yesterday for our family.
We have an idiot who has an idiot son who lives across the woods from our house. For the second time since February the fool teenager has let bullets leave his property both time nearly hitting a live person. This last one yesterday the 9mm bullet hit my house just a few feet from from my wife taking out the garage. In feb a 223 round missed my sons girlfriends head by inches, close enough to actually mine her hair.

WOW! I would have one heart to heart conversation with that family and if there was another incident it would be time to contact the police and a lawyer. If the kid can't be responsible than he should not be allowed to be around weapons.

Another day of Radium treatment. Two and a half weeks to go. The lady in the "hot room", asked how it was going as she released the strapping on my left hand. "Pretty cruisy", I replied, swinging off the treatment "bed".

But you should see the poor souls in the waiting room   Guessing some are debilitated by chemo already, before turning to this treatment. They look terrible.
Me? I'm good. Got home and did a bit of gardening later. Practically nothing wrong with my left hand. Reddened skin and an underlying SCC aside. The specialist (a surgeon) has ordered an MRI for next week and we will see what that reveals, although the Oncologist told me in the beginning that we would never know if it had been eliminated permanently.

Balvenie,
Good luck with the radiation treatments. I went thru them 18 years ago at the VA hospital in Seattle. I got back here to East Texas and was just plum tarred all the time for a few weeks. It is my understanding that everyone reacts differently to the treatments.

I wish you the very best,
Tex

I hope the radiation treatments go well, Balvenie.   Neither radiation nor chemo is any fun.

On a very different note- My/our day is the beginning of a brand new normal.  We returned home last night from moving our 17 yo daughter to PA for her summer internship.  During recent weeks, she has been accepted into the Honors Program at her chosen university in TN, received a full academic Honors scholarship, graduated from high school and is now in the Poconos for intern retreat & orientation for program near Philadelphia.  She'll stay with her grandparents while working, then go straight from PA to TN in August and probably not coming home until Thanksgiving.  We're all really blown away.    Neither of us had our program together like she does.   She's really something else, but it's still surreal that our little girl is grown up & gone out into the world.

And today is my wife's birthday, so there will be something good for dinner once I figure out what to make.

Thank you Tex, my treatments are not onerous............ ...yet. However, I should expect blistering which will mean a dressing on my hand, which will mean I cannot shower=my wife will have to give me sponge baths. Exciting as that might seem   it is Winter here and standing round in the cold while naked is not so comfortable.
So far though, in stark contrast to the experiences of others, it has merely been a blasted nuisance. Now, Bursitis; that was agony
