First day of 8am-5pm in almost three years.  The traffic sucked.  35 minutes to get to work.  Almost an hour to get home.

I ain't digging it.  It's only 16 miles.  My evening commute was less that 20 minutes over the same distance.

Maybe I should've opted for the severance package ?!?!?!?!?!

33 years married today.  We used to get paid to do this kind of stuff - now we do it for pleasure.  Frogs are noisy in the swamps.  The fires aren't extinguished. A good day!

I used to commute on my bike when I lived in Michigan.

Here, it's deadlocked traffic, and bad drivers at that! When I leave for work in the morning it only takes me 30 minutes or so to travel 20 miles, in the evening when I head home it takes almost an hour to get back.

Lots of clutch action going on with that commute, so I use my foot for the clutch in my Subaru most days...

Tried to match my Triumph's paint using color swatch from a computer monitor. It matched good, and also matched good using the store's monitor. Bought the paint, what?? Not even close :D. used it anyway, got the sidecar body foo foo can painted. Put the body out of the elements to dry. Knee surgery tomorrow am.  ;) Looks like I'll be super gimp for a week or 3. Probably no Luapfest for me.

Thanks for asking, usually the mule does not get much attention.  My oldest daughter is starting her full time, paid job today in NYC.  She also got paid for her last internship, so drumroll........... ..................

She is paying her rent and expenses for May.  We are very grateful.

Downside is my brother continues to struggle with career, physical and emotional issues.  He will take the summer off to try and heal up.

I feel pretty good today.  We had our last cold front pass through Houston so for the next six months it is heat and humidity.  Saturday I am going on a Two Wheeled Texans Pie run down to Wharton, TX.  It should be fun.  After the straight cruise down 59 I will return another route back north to Hwy 90 and back to Sugar Land.  I missed riding last weekend due to the Moto GP so the monkey really needs scratched.  Weekend after this I want to ride up to MPH to see a Cali in the real and talk to them about installing pipes on the V7R and get their thoughts on what they recommend.

So, yeah pretty good today.   ;-T

This has been a slow slog but I finally got the engine installed and all set up but it is running like shit and I am going to start again with timing and a good cleaning of the carb. Doesn't want to idle or rev very high and it is spitting through the carb on occasion.

Along the way I forgot to plug/install the oil pressure sender and after filling the engine with oil and using the pump with a drill I emptied almost the entire contents on the driveway. Then I filled up the radiator and noticed water coming from the driver's side head! Called the builder and he was puzzled and as Im talking to him I realized that the water sender was just hand tightened so that solved that problem.

I hope to get through this without too many more viewings of Youtubes.

This sentence struck a chord. Partner's daughter was struck down by post natal depression a couple of years ago. On top of which she takes methetrexate for arthritis. Had to give up work a few weeks ago. Then the person she went guarantor for, double crossed her. We are coping but my partner is doing it tough.
But the sun is shining and there have been no distress calls this morning.

After a record snow we got a record  +3.5" rain in the last 24 hours.  Yeah.  Both records in the same 24-hour period.  No end in sight.  Did I mention the breeze?  My roof lasted till past 4:AM except for directly over the bed.  Now there's a mess right there.

What a nightmare. Hope you can get fixed in a hurry.

Bummer for the daughter.  Long term medications for chronic conditions is always a trade off of discomforts.  I take the methetrexate (and predesone) for my PMR.  Nasty stuff.  I dose on Friday (can't work that day) and feel like crap all week.  They tell me it beats the alternative though, provided her kidneys, liver, pancreas and spleen can handle it, it doesn't give her ulcers, her arteries don't spontaneously split, bones turn to jelly, or she gets a sudden headache and go permanently blind.  The alternative is busting muscles off the bones, paralysis, and death.  And of course forgetting to take a dose or two can kill her, too.  So she could use some assistance and support.  It's not easy to be on the support end of the problem.  I applaud your partner's efforts.

You have PMR too Rodekyll! 'Tis a real bear of a complaint aint it. Down to 4mg of Prednisone per day (specialist wanted to start me on 20 but after "discussions" he started at 15 but no lower. 150mg of Diclofenac as well per day and 2 doses of Losec to try and protect the gut and kidneys. I tell myself that I am improving after 2 years now but when I have a bad day (or week) I begin to wonder. Specialist reckons it can last up to 5 years. ::) :'( :'( So far one hernia and a tendon falling of in the shoulder is my lot.

Fortunately, the Breva is the most comfortable seat in our house, the bad thing is that from today it is off the road for 6 months.

If my girlfriend's daughter is any guide Muzz, you will get off it. P's D had very painful finger joints but no longer has to take Prednisone. Good Luck ;-T

Thanks. Now localised in right side of groin and in right thigh, causing all the muscles in the thigh to be permanently tight. Makes walking difficult and painful. Better than being spread through the whole body though, which it was at the start.

RK, yes, in the thighs. Jumps from one to the other in the space of a couple of days. Having said that, it went from the left to the right in November and has stayed there. I think the constant cramp is causing the pain in the groin. Have had a couple of severe cramp attacks in the hamstrings which have left me with muscle tears. Have the wheat pack on hand so when they do hit my wife can do the heat pack/massage thing. Usually takes about 1/4 of an hour to ease off and the pain is intense. Shoulder still aches where the tendon detached; experts say that the disadvantages associated with surgical reattachment outweigh the advantages.

I am typing this in the middle of my first "stretch" session and before doing a light weight session on my gym machine as I am really stiff and sore in the morning. I service heat pumps for a living so I am up and down ladders all day. Usually completely knackered and seized up by the end of the day. I was using Norflex to control the spasms but my rheumatologist said he does not want me using it; did not get around to telling me why not. Have started taking it again in bursts lately; its not him who is trying to function on 2-4 hours sleep per night after all. Am off the permanent pain killers now, but sometimes need them for a day or two to get on top of things.

Looking forward to the day when it is all good again.

Bill, how is your back brace working ?
Dusty

Working very well, Dusty. No back pain. How's that ;D ;-T Neck is acting up though. Too much riding 8) ~; Tends to show up my other weaknesses. Not complaining. Started remembering all my old day rides, that I haven't done for, it seems like years. Funny how a simple solution worked so well.

Any complaining out of me would be selfish.  I got out for a while this morning.  Missed the Norton gathering due to timing.  Managed to get down to New Hope, PA with the family.  While its usually lousy with people, it was especially full of hard core 1% biker types rockin their shiny leather vests, doo rags, smokin cigars & living the dream.  Among the herd of rugged individual sheep, I did meet this gentleman, Bob.  His Indian was probably the most REAL thing i saw on the street today.  I enjoyed talking to him  for a few minutes about his bike and the story behind it .  He rides the hell out of that thing.  Among all the sidewalk crawling jersey-girl dodge'n bragging right seeking was a machine that totally ruled the roost.  Nice to meet you Bob.

I learned to ride on a stick shift Indian. It had been raced at the Castlereagh drags until my brother bought it for 5 quid and brought it home. It was unregistered so we trailered it out to the back blocks to try it out. My turn took me past my partners in crime, by the side of the (dirt) road, who seemed to be yelling, arm waving and carrying on like madmen. I was oblivious to all but my crippling fear of sudden death, as my ride bucked and shuddered over the ruts and potholes at 60 mph in second. Third was superfluous, so had the brains trust ordained. Presently, over and above the tsunami of horrid sensations, it came to me that my boot was warm and on chancing a downward glance, I saw that it was On Fire. My mates, seeing my predicament, were not applauding my performance at all, it seems. Dirt extinguished the flames but not my memories, which are among my fondest.
Good on Bob for keeping his Indian going.

Dusty,

Thanks for asking.  It started with a hemrhoid issue...enough said there.  Morning was ok, but afternoon was very dismal with "risk software" training by a bunch or corporate guys that just hold meetings.  It is typical bureaucracy and Mr. Boss did not have the balls to say no.  After an hour I just walked out, and yes my butt was hurting.  I emailed the boss before going home:  nope I will not be point man on this time waster.  So, I am pretty down on my current organization and Mr. Boss.  Two years to go or so until retirement.  I just want to do my job, and not spend a life time dealing with petty power grabbers and their staffs and games. I wonder if I can keep going sometimes.

Good news:  go on vacation Friday, and I really need the break.  Also another minor health issue is clearing up.  We were hoping youngest daughter could make it to Florida to meet us, but a professor ruined that.  Wanted to go for a ride, but took a nap instead.  It has been a stressful year so far...

I give it a half-star out of five.

Thanks. Can't do much else. :D Sounds as though RK has it worse than mine. I have been through the neck/shoulder/ stage and am free of that now. Just got the final clearance from the hernia op that needed doing late last year. Think it was caused by having to lug an industrial grade ladder through houses after OSH decreed we weren't allowed to use residential grade ladders. So much for health and safety. ??? ::) ::) ::)

Anyway, it's FRIDAY!!!!  ;-T ;-T Love my job but sometimes the effort of keeping going because someone is paying you money to keep going can be a bit of a strain.
