Whoo Hoo , cooler drier air coming
« on: July 10, 2019, 12:52:21 PM »
We are at 90F here with a dewpoint of 79 degrees , in other words , like being in a wet sauna . BUT , just North of us it is 74F with dewpoints in the mid 60's , coming our way . Several days of weather more like New Mexico in store , if I had a tail I'd wag it

I need that dew point to drop below 60-degrees before I'll be comfortable.  Sometime in September, I guess.

Pretty active line of storms today.  Then early next week, the remnants of the Gulf Tropical Storm.  I'm sure it'll also bring dew points in the high 70s.  Great...

Riding to Las Vegas this weekend.  Scheduled to be 109 when I get there.  But it's dry heat, right?

I damned near died mowing the lawn yesterday, had to take a break and finally get in the house to cool down.  Don't know how many V8s I drank.

Computer said the HI was 107 but I didn't get a breeze.  2 in the afternoon pretty well sucked.   I wanted to try that little frog tog deal that you wet it, snap it, and hang around my neck, that sucker felt like warm jello.  I won't do that again in this humidity.   Something like 95 + 50% humidity.

I should be in the mountains this time of year but life has intervened on me.  At least, I was reconstituted and had a good work out in the gym this morning, thank gosh the air was working there.

That works up to about 55% humidity at 80 F , after that it's like getting blasted with a steam cleaner

AHHH! Just in the last few hours cooler air has arrived and the dew point has dropped 10 degrees. Just opened the house up for the night, 72 degrees and 65 DP. :thumb:

100 degrees yesterday in the ol' VOC (Village of Oak Creek).  "WHEW!!"

Only about 11% humidity, however, so hot and dry.   Fortunately, when the sun sets, it cools down to the low 70's at night.  :thumb:

Monsoon rains will come in a week or so, which will dramatically cool everything down.

As LowRyter said and I can confirm, it was miserable the last week or so with high temps and humidity and very little wind. Today though is near perfect with upper 80s and dewpoint in low 60s. The single digit winds could be a bit more.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

My wife and I fly into DFW the other day. The temperature was 97 degrees, and it began to rain, with lots of thunder and lightning. Wow, was it humid!

Much better today, with a nice breeze blowing. Good riding weather right now here in Forney, TX!

Beautiful day to get the Honda mower out and do the grass this morning.  But I got confused, and instead, took the Honda CB1100 out for 225 miles.  This has to be one of the easiest bikes to ride I've ever owned.  The controls are very light, the engine make good power beginning at about 2200 rpm, and there's little need to 'wind' past 4500 rpm going through the gears, though redline is somewhere around 8500 rpm.

Honda was practically giving these bikes away.  They just didn't sell well.  I purchased my standard black model for $6999.00.  Out the door was slightly less than $7200.00 in April 2017.  A three year old, new bike, at the time.  Left me a bunch of $$$ to play with the suspension (softer Ikons and Race Tech Gold valves.)

She's a good little ride, low enough to the ground for my 5'7" height, with aftermarket adjustable footpegs slightly lower and forward, and stock bars rocked back toward me.

Took me a while to figure out what the hell 'soul' means on a 4 cylinder DOHC 16 valve engine with whisper quiet exhaust.  I think I now 'get it.'  It's that turbine like feel of the engine, which was a brand new air cooled design when the bike came out in Europe in 2011 or thereabouts.  Combined with ideal gear ratio choices, it is a nice power train.

OK, I know Dusty commented about the cool weather, and I ripped off into a post about my CB1100.  But it was a beautiful day here in NE Ohio, with low humidity and temps.  I picked some of my favorite roads, and they were in great shape.  And the bike and I were in sync.

Love it when it all comes together.

Bob
