« on: April 29, 2022, 10:44:37 PM »
No relation to seller, Moto Morini 500 on Ebay - Flagstaff Arizona - $4500 - no current offers

ORIGINAL UNMOLESTED 1980 MOTO MORINI 500 STRADA - HARD TO FIND THESE...  NEEDS TO BE SORTED BUT IT DOES START AND RUN.  FORK HAS BEEN REBUILT AND BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED.  RELATIVELY RECENT TOP END JOB AND TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT.  NEW BATTERY...  THE HORN AND ALL LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. WORK.  STARTER NEEDS TO BE SERVICED - IT TURNS BUT THE CENTRIFUGAL MECHANISM NEEDS TO BE LUBED AND ADJUSTED SO THAT IT WILL CRANK THE MOTOR.  AS IT IS NOW, IT CAN BE KICK STARTED.  I WOULD KEEP IT BUT I HAVE TOO MANY OTHER PROJECTS.  PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.  BILL 928 606-7379

Didn't know they had a timing belt.  They were a Heron head like the smallblocks so I just assumed they were pushrod OHV as well. :undecided:

They do have pushrods, but they drive the camshaft off of the crank with a small toothed belt.

Push rods from the cam followers up to the rockers

right side case the cam rests in the bearing above the crank bearing, cam folloers visible above and to left of cam, push rods run through cylinder and head

cam belt driven off crank

I've always liked the Morini 500 and 350, with their Heron heads.  I just can't justify getting yet another bike.  I know some of you aren't saddled with that emotional limit.

Don't limit yourself, life is too short!

I am thinking of putting my 1979 Moto Morini 500 on BAT now that I have my 1975 3-1/2 almost done, this 500 has had everything done to it, as close to new as I can make it and it runs and rides very well.

Stock with the exception of Tarozzi rear sets and Electonic Sasche ignition, kick and electric start, nice light bike, tripple disc brakes, adequate power and sweet handling.

All I can say is if any forum member were to go for a Morini you would not be disappointed, they are the most wonderful involving motorcycles. I have two  3 1/2 Sports and they are fantastic!, real motorcycles in every way!

Joe:

Call Ben at MotoConsult in Manchester, CT. There's a nice, original 500 Sport that's been sitting out there for some time which could be had...

Steven,

I grew up in Mansfield Center!  Still, I've got too many bikes as it is.  As Thoreau said; we do not own our possessions, they own us.

Still, I might just take a look......
