Why are there never any used oil-cooler covers?
« on: August 29, 2016, 12:25:57 PM »
I don't mean the plastic tat "custom" items. i mean the great cast lump that the cooler sits behind on the Griso. Ebay seems to regularly have every conceivable part of a Griso in various countries. But I've yet to see one of these. Does everyone wreck them? Or is there a thriving black market?

  • It's unique to the Griso
  • The Griso is a low production bike
  • The cover is down near the pavement where it can be damaged even if the bike is not dropped
  • It's not hard to damage the cover if the bike is actually dropped
  • There has to be something on every bike that you can only get from the dealer - it's a natural law!

I can see why you'd be interested in a used part. $540.00 from AF1. Unless you just need the grille, which at $6.87 is so cheap I ordered one to have as a spare. What possible reason is there for this sort of variability? (That's a rhetorical question.)

Griso Cover - GU06583000

Price: $540.00

PROTEZIONE RADIATORE GRISO 1000 - GU06582600

Teo Lamers?
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉

Teo Lamers?
No - it was on Ebay, and not a name I recognised. I have used Teo Lamers when I couldn't get a part in UK.

Still not found one at a half way reasonable price. Might end up having to refurbish. Or continue living with my lifting paint disaster area, which is a continual reminder of my own damned stupidity :embarrassed:

I refurbed mine. I hit the deck a lot, cause I'm a crasher. J-B Weld, lotsa sanding and heat-cured paint.

You almost can't even tell.

I've actually got two. When I drop Griso, I stick the spare one on and the refurb the scratched one. By the time I give up riding, I expect my Griso will be approximately 60% J-B Weld.

Yes John, he's just up the road a bit from me in Wagga Wagga. An ancient aboriginal name meaning 'Place of the tattooed bogan'!

I thought it means "place where Grisos rest on their side a lot".  :whip2:

Does the crankshaft turn in the opposite direction south of the Equator?

It's a good thing the world keeps spinning - otherwise, all the Aussies and Kiwis would fall off!
