Norge ride report

Perfect day for a ride…90F, dry, a new mesh jacket and mesh pants to try out, along with a newly installed Steel Mate TPMS system…just a perfect 200 miler.

An interesting data point…the TPMS also monitors temperature of each wheel.  I like 40psi cold on each tire, works perfectly and both tires when warm on a day like this got up to 44 psi…but temp on front was 34C, temp on rear was 44C…I didn’t have any preconceived idea of what the temps differential would be…just an interesting data point.

Such a fine day and ride…didn’t stop for any pics!

The front tire is directly in the windstream and being cooled faster than the rear, perhaps? Just conjecture on my part.

Yep, about average (regarding temp difference).
Also, p.s.i. seems to rise about 3 to 4 points..

Glad for the ride and report on TPMS.  Always torn about adding something like that.   

Now, surely you meant F for Fahrenheit not C for Celcius ... 44C is 111F!

And -- yay!  -- as you have started a stepchild to an oil thread -- I'll say that I run my Norge with at 2.5 BAR front, and 2.8 BAR at rear.

Actually, while I do try to keep up with TP, and am fastidious when Kathi will be my pillion, I also have to be candid and say that my T-CLOCS inspection also often uses my calibrated and ultra-sensitive booted right foot to check PSI.

I had a SYKIK TPMS on my Norge for a while but removed it. Pain in the butt to add air when you need to. The pressure alarm went off when riding in hot weather (I know the threshold is settable). The low battery alarm went off and wouldn't stop at one point. Yet another thing to keep charged. I decided to keep things simple.

Thanks Bill!  Tire temp reading most definitely in Celsius...given that it's 90F outside, no way my tires can be 34F or 44 F!    I'd be riding on bricks! 

I decided to leave the read out in Celsius, just to read 2 digits, rather than 3...more symetrical on the display!

Here's the link to the Steel Mate in case it's of interest to others (NW Guy)...SUPER easy to install and configure.  Nice quality hardware.

One of the things I discovered, was that using different pressure gauges (ARB, Bike Pump, Digital, Hand held), it turns out that my ultra accurate bike pump was not so accurate, so I was actually running a bit low.  It's quite nice having an accurate read out on demand...even as a Digital clock, so I can flip back to Tire Temps or Clock as desired.
