Cali 1100 snot under valve cover

I took off the valve cover last night for no good reason
The picture below is not mine, once again I didn't take a picture.
But where I placed the arrow, there was a glob of Vaseline colored goop.
I wiped it down, and used a drinking straw to blow out the passage.
I assume that what I heard was the goop landing in the bottom of the air cleaner.
I can find no mention of this passage in the manuals.

It is emulsified oil. My 2003 Stone does this in the cold and wet climate of western Washington. In temps less then 50 degrees the engine runs too cool to boil of water in the oil. My VW bug did the same thing. I pop the valve covers off and clean the mayo a few times a year.

Just asking out of curiosity. Woukd a different type of oil stop this issue?

Getting the engine operating temp boils the moisture out of oil. Riding more than 10mi is what it takes. Moisture gets in ALL oil. Has nothing to do w/oil but how you ride, same w/trans and rear drive.
If your bike never gets warmed, your spark plugs will always be black and oil have moisture in it.

It has been in the high 80s here and I have rode it over 500 miles in the last week.
I think the mayo was created in the hose to the air box, plugging the hose, then is getting sucked, or overflowing into the engine.
The hose was full of it.

That hole w/arrow should be the pressure vent going to airbox.

after years of running with an accurate oil temp gauge with the temp pickup in the sump I can tell you generally on a big block Guzzi, it takes 30 miles for the oil temp to stabilize and it will fluctuate from there according to load and ambient temps
