You could pair that with the Richmond Bridge from Marin back over to Berkeley, and come back along the Bay Bridge from Oakland back to SF (this one also had a big crack/section which fell in the 1989 earthquake).  You'd have the trifecta of Bridges all in one day...but then you'd have to go to Big Sur south of Monterrey and do the Bixby bridge, and then of course, down to San Diego to do Coronado island...you could turn it into the tour of Bridges of the US!. You might be busy for a few months at least!

Yes it's an area called Pulga. Did you see the Y where the tracks split on another  bridge.  I believe it's the only one in the US. I go take a picture and post it tomorrow hopefully.
